SCB Steelers Quick Hitters: The “Enough Already” Edition

Heyward

Good Thursday to you Steelers fans.

As many of you know, social media is a toxic place. People are willing to say anything to get attention and consequences be damned. We’ve seen some ugly days in the world of “Steelers Twitter” and yesterday was no different. After TMZ released video of Chase Claypool present at a bar fight in California, things immediately spun out of control as everyone tried to get their own view and opinion across the platform. After all, that’s why it exists. What I don’t understand is why people are so willing to attack each other. Do you feel that badly about yourself? Is your life so miserable that you name call and bully someone because they have a different take on the Steelers than you do? If you disagree, that’s cool. Explain why and leave out the insults. Are there times when when I lose my head? Yep, sure there are but it’s usually in retaliation to someone. I’m far from perfect but enough already with the constant negativity people.

Some Items You May Have Missed

The recent signing of former Detroit Lions’ DB/LB Miles Killebrew is important for two reasons. First, it likely means the end of Jordan Dangerfield’s run in Pittsburgh and secondly, Killebrew makes his living by being a Special Teams’ ace… OLB Cassius Marsh was brought back yesterday. He provides depth but I’m not overly impressed with him. I wouldn’t be at all surprised if he isn’t on the roster in September… Most importantly was the retention of Robert Spillane. While pretty much a foregone conclusion because he was an Exclusive Rights Free Agent, Spillane had been traveling and that’s why he was in no rush to sign his contract. He will start out the season as the starting inside linebacker opposite of Devin Bush.

Tweet of the Day… I like Beth a lot. Unlike other reporters she doesn’t always share her opinions. She reports the news and leaves it at that. This article however has to have perspective with it. We are in March. I’m in no hurry to decide what the prospects for the Steelers will be this far from the season even beginning. That said, I’d rather have an owner who wants to always “win now” versus one who is rebuilding.

Pro Days

Huge day across the country for many young men as there are plenty of Pro Days happening from coast to coast. I would have to assume there will be a heavy Steelers’ presence in Happy Valley for two reasons. One, because it’s close by and two because tight end Pat Freiermuth would look awfully good in Black and Gold.
