Good Monday to you Steelers’ Fans!

The NFL Combine, or “football in pajamas” begins this week. For people like myself who could watch football all year long it’s a chance to see some “football related stuff” anyway. For the Steelers it’s part of a process that is already well underway. It’s further examine of guys that the team could very well Draft at the end of April. It’s OK to get excited when guys at positions of need do amazing things this week. Just remember that what you see is just one facet of the entire evaluation process.

What positions should you be watching? Start with inside linebackers and safeties. The Steelers are in desperate need of guys at both positions. Do not sleep on running backs either. With Le’Veon Bell’s status for 2018 very much in doubt and James Conner recovering from a late season knee injury, the Steelers will be playing close attention to the position. With fewer picks as of right now, the team has to be good on their picks this spring.

Tweet of the Day… More awards for AB.

I think this newest NCAA investigation in college basketball bears watching. Do I think it is going to completely reset the way college athletics works? Probably not but I can see a scenario where things do change drastically in terms of how players are handled in terms of compensation. Stay tuned as they say.

So now that the “Martavis Bryant is getting traded stuff” has settled a bit let me offer you the following. I cannot see a team giving up anything more than a third round pick with Bryant so close to being suspended again. What I think could be more likely is a player-for-player trade. Bryant is a starting, #2 wide receiver. Why shouldn’t the Steelers be able to ask for a starter at safety or inside linebacker in return?

As for Le’Veon Bell… Things are quiet. Too quiet. OK, I said that for sake of dramatics… What I can tell you is that the Steelers have received calls and these are merely the “so what would it take” type of calls. Leading contenders you ask? Detroit, Miami, Tampa Bay.

Have a great week Steeler Nation!
