SCB Steelers Quick Hitters: The “Can’t Win” Edition

Good Friday to you Steelers’ Fans.

I have had a revelation. It has become abundantly clear to me that no matter what anyone connected with the Steelers says they just can’t win. The agenda has been established by the talking heads and they will not stop until who knows when. I sometimes wish that Ben Roethlisberger would just walk into Art Rooney II’s office and say, “I’m retiring.” He doesn’t deserve the constant arrows being slung at him. We know he’s not a “natural leader” and we know he rubs people the wrong way in the locker room too. But when did we all become so sensitive? Don’t like what he does or says? THEN TALK TO HIM ABOUT IT. Stop going thru your ‘spokesperson’ or agent. Stop going through the media (or social media) to help shape your agenda. Got a problem? Then seek him out and address it. And if you’re one of those upset with Kevin Colbert’s choice of words yesterday then go back and listen to what he said. Don’t just read it. But then again, that probably requires too much work. I can’t wait to start talking about on-field topics again. Sheesh.

I see James Harrison is commenting on Mike Tomlin again. Can some network just please give him a job already? Pretty obvious he’s angling for one.

Tweet of the Day… Exactly what I’m saying.

I fully expect the current climate around the Steelers to get worse. Antonio Brown is scheduled to be on the next episode of LeBron James’ snow. Get your popcorn ready.

There’s a lot to be curious about in regards to the Steelers’ offseason plans but one of the things I’m most interested in is what the Steelers do with Marcus Gilbert. He’s missed a ton of games the last couple of seasons and with Matt Feiler doing well in his stead has he become expendable? Could he be traded? Cut? I think it’s one of the major story-lines of the offseason.

With all the negativity, I think a young guy like Terrell Edmunds deserves some credit. He played every game this year and while he made as many mistakes as he did big plays I think we have to suggest the arrow is pointing up on him. Troy Polamalu was very average his rookie year too and perhaps the best thing I’ve seen with Edmunds is that he appears to know how to do social media correctly.

I’ve never been so excited for the NFL Combine to get started. It’s guys running around in absurdly tight clothing but at least they are doing something other than talking.

Have a great weekend Steeler Nation!
