Good Monday to you Steelers’ Fans!
Leave it to Antonio Brown to take what was supposed to be a dead and quiet period of time before Training Camp to get some fans all pissed off. AB was seen on social media doing some drills while wearing a Carolina Panthers’ helmet which elicited any number of tweets suggesting the Steelers were trading Brown to the Panthers. Then we saw plenty of social media video of AB working out with Terrelle Pryor and Geno Smith. Oh the horror!! News flash! NFL players often work out with guys from other teams. It’s really not a big deal. R-E-L-A-X.
Lots of social media discussion this week about whether Xavier Grimble will unseat Jesse James as the top tight end in Pittsburgh. Far be it for me to say that will never happen but I sure don’t see it anytime soon. Grimble is a lesser blocker than James is so I believe his use will continue to be as a receiver primarily.
The Steelers will wear their color rush uniforms when the Tennessee Titans come to town this season.
Tweet of the Day… Former Steeler Willie Colon comments on ‘Get Out’ which I recently saw as well. Really good!
Just saw @GetOutMovie! Spot on! It deserves an OSCAR! Every coach in America needs to show this to their teams. #GetOut #StayWoke pic.twitter.com/4RwgrDvarP

Comparisons between players are natural. It’s what largely drives sports talk radio and pretty much every program on ESPN. What irritates me however is that when people compare players they’ve never seen play before. While it’s a personal policy of mine, I think highly enough of it that more people should consider it. For example, I never saw John Henry Johnson run the football for the Steelers so for me to compare him to Franco Harris or Le’Veon Bell is pointless. Furthermore, it makes it even more difficult when you are comparing people of different eras. The Steelers’ teams of the 1970’s are all-time greats but asking how they might fare in today’s game is unfair. Rules are different, technology is different and the entire game itself has changed dramatically. So while they might be great for bars or taverns, these types of comparisons are futile to me.
If you wonder why we don’t put out a lot of content then let me answer that for you. I firmly believe in quality over content. If my goal was to simply regurgitate news that ESPN or Pro Football Talk put out first I’d do that but that’s not what I’m about.
We are about a month away from the Steelers reporting to Training Camp. Can’t come soon enough in my opinion!
Have a great week Steeler Nation!
