SCB Steelers Quick Hitters: The “20 Point Mark” Edition

by Steeldad

Good Wednesday to you Steelers fans.

Former Pittsburgh Steelers’ PR man Ryan Scarpino has been on our podcast a few times. Besides doing unbelievable impressions of Troy Polamalu, Ryan knows his Steelers’ football. Doing what he did for the team you might think he should but he often digs deeper than the average fan and here’s a perfect example.

Right now, the Steelers are averaging 30.5 points per game. What’s interesting is that you’d often think these games with Baltimore were just good old fashioned slugfests that end with less than 25 points total. That hasn’t always been the case as the two teams have had some shootouts as well. I’ll say this though, if the Steelers score 30 or more points on Sunday they’ll win.

Cam Sutton

Last night, the Steelers’ defensive back posted some very cryptic messages to his Instagram account. This lead to massive speculation and to a general consensus that he may have been traded. As of this writing, that has not occurred and there has been no explanation for his strange posts. The trade deadline is fast approaching and like every team, the Steelers have places they could use help. But trading Sutton seems like a strange idea considering how versatile he is.

On the Injury Front…

Mike Tomlin said yesterday that both Mike Hilton and Derek Watt will have an opportunity to play on Sunday. As Tomlin always says, “Their participation this week will be their guide.” Robert Spillane, who left the field after his massive collision with Derrick Henry eventually return for the final drive and should be OK moving forward.

Flexed

The NFL announced yesterday that the Steelers’ Week 10 Game at Heinz Field against the Bengals has been moved from a 1pm start to a 425pm start. I would expect this is not the only game that will be flexed.

Another Wes Saunders?

You may remember the former tight end who many fans have clamored for the Steelers to bring back in recent years… He even tweeted at Coach Tomlin and others telling them he was ready. Now we have punter Marquette King who has replaced Saunders as the fan bases next best hope. I’m going to steal this line from steelers.com’s Bob Labriola who was asked why the Steelers haven’t signed King. “If he’s such a great punter then why hasn’t he been in the league since 2018?” BINGO.
