SCB Steelers Quick Hitters for December 8th, 2014

by Steeldad

As is the usual case on Tuesdays, the Steelers will be off today.

-Mike Tomlin’s press conference will be today at Noon Eastern and can bee seen on steelers.com and Root Sports.

-While it’s just one game, it’s hard to wonder why Arthur Moats hasn’t gotten more time. He recorded four tackles, two sacks and forced and recovered a fumble Sunday in Cincinnati. Depending on James Harrison’s availability and the status of Jarvis Jones I hope we see more of Moats.

-I was not surprised at all to see Dri Archer a healthy scratch on Sunday. My only question is what took so long? Once Archer was removed from kick return duties, he should have been made inactive because he has had no impact at all offensively.

-I watched the first half again yesterday and I just can’t get over how poor Mike Mitchell is playing safety. He is consistently out of position and takes pursuit angels that make pee wee football coaches cringe.

-After watching Atlanta last evening they can be had. The problem is that we’ve thought this about Tampa, New Orleans and the Jets as well. Have to get pressure on Matt Ryan as the Falcons’ OL is not very impressive.

-The mystery of Shamarko Thomas continues… He has one snap on defense in 2014. Had 189 in 2013.

-The Steelers tied their own record Sunday by scoring more than 30 points in a game for the seventh time in one season. This ties the 1975 and 1979 Steelers’ teams.

-The Steelers also clinched a season of eight wins or better for the 11th straight year. Only New England has a longer streak at 14.

-For only the second time in team history (2009), the Steelers have a passer over 4,000 yards and a running back and receiver over 1,000 yards.

-Mike Tomlin is now 11-2 all-time against the Bengals.

-Ben Roethlisberger is 15-6 all-time versus the Bengals and is 9-2 on the road.

-I don’t know how anyone couldn’t have Le’Veon Bell in the top three of best running backs in the game right now.

the 2014 OFFseason is shaping up to being easily 1 of the WORST ever. Almost NO impact from FA class that Colbert DESPERATELY signed. I’m sure i’m not the only fan who is wondering why certain players get playing time over others who are more athletic & producing in small sample sizes. All i know is the Philosophy of this organization needs to change this offseason, before the last 1/3 of our franchise 2x SB winning QB is wasted by Colbert’s draft busts/reaches & awful FA signings…
