The Steelers will be back at today for the public at 255pm in Latrobe.

Tomorrow night is the annual “Friday Night Scrimmage” at the high school field. If you’ve never been I strongly recommend going. Very cool to see these guys up close on a small field. ESPN is supposed to be there as well this year.

On the injury front, Ryan Shazier was dinged up but should be OK. Receivers Canaan Severin (shoulder) and Demarcus Ayres (ankle) are being further evaluated but seem to be of the ‘day-to-day’ variety. Also, Senquez Golson is still not certain whether he’ll face surgery or not. Waiting for swelling to subside in order to get a more accurate MRI.

With Golson out the Steelers signed Kevin White. He’s a second year guy from TCU who played in Atlanta and Arizona. Yesterday the Steelers had him working on the outside as opposed to in the slot.

After this season, the Steelers are putting the bumblebee uniforms back in the closet. I’m just fine with that.

Tweet of the Day… R.I.P.

WR Eli Rogers was working with the first team yesterday from the slot. I think that’s important because Markus Wheaton is entering the final year of his contract. With Martavis Bryant’s future up in the air and Sammie Coates unproven as of yet, they need guys to step up.

Rookie offensive tackle Jerald Hawkins has been getting reps at both left and right tackle. This was one pick I wasn’t crazy about but if anyone can get this kid ready to play in the NFL it’s Mike Munchak. Having him play both sides can only help his ability to make the team.

Rookie linebackers Travis Feeney and Tyler Matakevich have both been pretty quiet so far in camp. The one bit I am hearing from people near the field is that Matakevich is pretty good between the tackles but he’ll need to show he can do it all in order to make the roster.

Former Steelers’ cornerback Brandon Boykin, who has been with the Chicago Bears,is out for the season with a torn pectoral. We always like Boykin and wish him well.

Have a great day Steeler Nation!
