TGIF Steelers’ Fans!

It’s been a position that we’ve talked very little about because it remains one of the more stable and solid spots on the Steelers’ roster. I’m talking about the offensive line which remains intact heading into the 2017 season. The one guy that often gets forgotten is Jerald Hawkins who enters his second season. We discussed him briefly on the podcast last evening. Hawkins had an excellent training camp in 2016 before getting hurt. The Steelers made a mistake in putting him on IR because he was ready to go as early as late September/Early October. The fact they kept Cody Wallace on the roster as long as they did was evidence of some mismanagement in my opinion here. In any case, don’t be surprised if Hawkins has another solid camp and makes things interesting at the tackle position.

The Minister of Misinformation strikes again!! This week’s entry from Gerry Dulac’s chat transcript.

john san felipe: Was Peppers the team’s primary selection had he been there in the first round?
Gerry Dulac: He was the primary target

No he was not. They had Watt pegged for months. Peppers info was leaked to blow smoke. Period. End of report.

Last night on the Steel City Blitz Podcast presented by 26shirts.com/Pittsburgh we discussed where we think the Steelers’ rookies will fit and how much we can expect in their first year. Give it a listen!!

Tweet of the Day… VWill is just priceless on Twitter.

Happy Birthday to former Steelers’ CB Ike Taylor! He and Deebo with birthdays in the same week… Makes sense to me. DEFENSE!!

Jay Cutler attended Vanderbilt University so he has to have some intelligence. That said, I just don’t have real high hopes that he’ll be a solid color analyst for FOX’s NFL coverage.

Speaking of guys who we’ve forgotten above… I don’t see the Steelers bringing back Shamarko Thomas. The likable Thomas, who is incredibly hard worker just never lived up to the hype. I wish him the best and hope he can stay healthy in the future.

Have a great weekend Steeler Nation!
