Hey Steelers Fans. Welcome to Monday.
The Kickoff
If anyone tells you this week that they know what the Pittsburgh Steelers are doing on Thursday night do not believe them. There will be plenty of people who will narrow things down by the time the NFL Draft starts and there will no doubt be people who nail it. For anyone to tell you they definitely know? Uh, no. No, they don’t. Every passing year gets tougher and tougher to predict simply because the Steelers are constantly selecting in the 20’s. This year is no different with their first selection being at 21. One of the more significant things to pay attention to is ‘need vs best player available.’ Which direction will Omar Khan go in round one? I have no clue but I guarantee the player will have a very high RAS or ‘Relative Athletic Score.’ That…. I can guarantee.
The Latest Podcast
Episode 417 of the SCB Steelers Podcast presented by DEK Roofing Inc is available! We provided our final thoughts as the Draft approaches and of course… we had a few comments about Aaron Rodgers’ appearance on ‘The Pat McAfee Show.’ Don’t forget, our huge Draft Night episode will begin this Thursday about 9pmET!!
Draft Coverage
I’m extremely proud of the effort put forth, especially from Dom and Cliff, on our Draft coverage. Lots of player profiles and mock drafts as well. Check it all out right here!
My Best Guess??
Look, as I said, nobody knows where the Steelers are going in round one. My best guess however would have to be defensive line. Cam Heyward and Keannu Benton are your only “guys” there and one of them is 36 years old. The shine on Michigan’s Kenneth Grant has dimmed a bit as a first rounder… Derrick Harmon seems an obvious fit but the Steelers really haven’t invested that much time into him… Walter Nolen from Ole Miss just feels like a Steeler but again, the time invested with him is minimal. Therefore, don’t be surprised if they wait until the middle rounds to take D-line help.
Confirmed… Again
The Post-Gazette’s Gerry Dulac confirmed again this past week that the Steelers’ offer to Aaron Rodgers is a one-year deal. He cannot confirm the amount of money but that shouldn’t be an issue right? Rodgers said last week he’d play for $10 million. So what’s the hang-up? I firmly believe Rodgers is torn between retiring and waiting for a Training Camp injury from a top contender. That’s just the vibe I have right now.

I did five racks of baby back ribs for the family yesterday. They turned out FANTASTIC! You want my recipe hit me up via email or socials… I really think we are headed for a ‘relegation-style’ format in college football. With the Big Ten and SEC leaps and bounds ahead of everyone else, I get the feeling there will be a mega conference of 40 or 50 teams. Those at the bottom will drop while the top teams from the lower levels come up… Every time I watch an action movie I think, “I need to get in shape so I can do that.” Then I realize that my body hurts from getting up from the couch… I wonder if MLB will ever put pressure on the current Pirates’ ownership to sell. Fans deserve so much better.
