Hey Steelers Fans. Welcome to Thursday!

In case you’ve missed a busy few days on the transaction front let me catch you up with some comments.

-TE Rodney Williams to the active roster

-WR Ben Skowronek to IR

-LB/STs ace Tyler Matakevich to IR

-WR Jaray Jenkins and TE Matt Sokol were signed to the Practice Squad.

-CB/STs Gunner James Pierre was signed.

So if you’re thinking… “Isn’t that five tight ends on the active roster?” You aren’t wrong however MyCole Pruitt has a knee issue and it’s expected that could see him end up on IR for a few weeks. If my math is correct, I believe the Steelers are currently at 52 on the active roster so another addition should be coming. Pierre was a “so-so” defensive back in his prior stint in Pittsburgh but he was an excellent gunner on punt team and that’s why he’s back.

The Podcast

Episode 387 of the SCB Steelers Podcast presented by DEK Roofing Inc airs tonight at 10pm on our YouTube channel. We’ll discuss all of the roster moves, the win in Denver, the home opener and much more! It’s informative, opinionated and entertaining.

Wilson

I’m no doctor. I play one occasionally in my own head but professionally? I’m not. When I see Russell Wilson going through drills he reminds me right now of an old man gingerly walking to the mailbox. Every step is intentional and careful and regardless of what I think in terms of a “calf strain” it’s apparent he’s still struggling.

Jones

You’re likely tired of hearing about Broderick Jones so I’ll just leave you with this. I had a chance to talk with former Miami Pro Bowler Richmond Webb who used to protect Dan Marino. See his comments about Jones from this article published yesterday.

Mountaineer Mauler

Nobody comes up with nicknames and funny phrases quite like Craig Wolfley and he’s done it again. He’s tabbed rookie center Zach Frazier the “Mountaineer Mauler” and it couldn’t be more appropriate. I can’t recall the last time I enjoyed watching a center work as much as I enjoyed watching him. His combination of smarts, speed, leverage and power are really something to behold. He’s going to be a great one.

Steelers History

This week Gordon takes us back to 1984. Oh what times those were!!! He harkens back to a game where the Steelers’ Offense could do no wrong.

Random Reads

Irritating ESPN host Chris Russo blasted the Steelers for giving Russell Wilson a game ball on Sunday after winning in Denver. Russo is like most of these ESPN guys who shout and scream and stick their face in the camera while talking about things they know little about… The dust-up over C.J. Stroud’s interaction with Chicago rookie Caleb Williams is another example of ‘much ado over nothing.’ Stroud was trying to be a leader and Williams was pissed the team lost and wanted nothing to do with at the time. Yet the media made it way more than it needed to be… This game with the Chargers is going to be fascinating. Both teams rank near the top in carries per game and the battles on the edges should be must see TV.
