Hey Steelers Fans. Welcome to Friday!

The Kickoff

It’s been a busy week for all of us.  From Aaron Rodgers treating the Steelers as if they were waiting for the hottest girl in school to notice them to free agent signings and trades. Our little engine that could here did an excellent job of keeping you informed as we gave you our takes on each and every little thing that happened. That said, there’s much more to be done as we kick into overdrive for NFL Draft prep and we hope you’ve already been checking out that content as well!

The Podcast

Episode 412 of the SCB Steelers Podcast presented by DEK Roofing Inc is available!! We spent 90 minutes discussing each new player, some that left and much more! We had a great time as always! Check it out!

The QB Carousel Continues

With Garnder Minshew signing to be Patrick Mahomes’ backup in Kansas City, the options for the Steelers continue to whittle down. I’m really surprised the Steelers remain involved with Aaron Rodgers. The numbers from last season speak for themselves in terms of not wanting him but this game of ‘chicken’ he is playing is also disrespectful and childish. Roll with Mason Rudolph and look to 2026.

This is a massive opportunity' – Minister for Sport Patrick O'Donovan defends €10m funding for NFL game at Croke Park | Irish Independent Ireland

Current Steelers’ Tight End Pat Freiermuth and former Steelers’ great Rod Woodson have been on a ‘goodwill tour’ of sorts. They’ve been in Ireland drumming up support for the Steelers’ visit there in 2025. To be honest, I don’t think they needed to do this. Croke Park in Dublin is already expected to be a sellout.

Random Reads

Rumor has it that Mike Tomlin is pushing hard for Aaron Rodgers. This isn’t surprising at all but it does make me question Tomlin’s thought process… Former NY Jets’ pass rusher Mark Gastineau is suing ESPN and the NFL for $25 million over the video of him confronting Brett Favre about giving Michael Strahan his (Gastineau’s) sack record. It was sad at the time to see an old and clearly out of shape Gastineau confront Favre over something from so long ago. Clearly that was about money and so is this… Oh by the way, it still wouldn’t be his record since T.J. Watt tied Strahan’s record a few years back… Speaking of Watt, congrats to he and his wife on the birth of their first child… Ted Lasso is returning. The first season was great then they decided to bring in the therapist and things got serious. I stopped watching… RIP John Feinstein. The long-time sportswriter wrote “A Season on the Brink” about the 1986 Bobby Knight Hoosiers. An amazing and eye-opening book.
