I started doing this a long time ago. Why? I really have no idea. I guess I just like the thought of designing a schedule. Yes, I do have a screw loose… Anyway, we already know the opponents so here’s my shot at predicting the 2024 schedule for the Pittsburgh Steelers.
Week 1: @Cleveland Browns 1pmET
With the Pittsburgh Pirates at home during the NFL Opening Weekend, that almost always assures the Steelers of opening on the road. The rivals haven’t met in the season opener since 2018 in Cleveland.
Week 2: (Thursday Night) NY Jets 820pmET
The home stand of the Buccos continues but they are off on Thursday night so rather than being on the road for the first two weeks, I’ll go ahead and suggest a TNF game here with Aaron Rodgers coming to town.
Week 3: @Denver Broncos 405pmET
Russell Wilson gets an early return to the Mile High City and there’s no doubt he wants to make a strong impression in front of Sean Payton and the Broncos.
Week 4: @Washington Commanders 1pmET
There’s a new regime in Washington as the Commanders and Heisman Trophy winner Jayden Daniels welcome the Steelers.
Week 5: Cincinnati Bengals 1pmET
The Steelers swept the Bengals in 2023 so there’s no question Joe Burrow and company will be looking to turn the tables.
Week 6: @Philadelphia Eagles 1pmET
The Eagles lead the all-time series 49-29-3 but their recent dominance in Philly is what really draws the attention here. Pittsburgh hasn’t won in the City of Brotherly Love since 1965. That’s a streak of 10 straight losses. Can they end the streak?
Week 7: LA Chargers 405pmET
Justin Herbert and Jim Harbaugh come to Acrisure Stadium for an always important AFC tilt. Despite winning just four times in Pittsburgh, the Chargers have won the last two in the Steel City.
Week 8: (Thursday Night) @Atlanta Falcons 820pmET
Mike Tomlin takes his team South to take on the Falcons. New Steelers’ Offensive Coordinator Arthur Smith will surely be looking to have a big game.
Week 9: Dallas Cowboys 425pmET
Pittsburgh and Dallas, Dallas and Pittsburgh… Since the 1970’s this matchup has always drawn the attention of the country and it will again as the big game in the late time slot. Overall the Steelers have won three of the last five in the series.
Week 10: @Baltimore Ravens 1pmET
Hard to believe but it takes all the way until week 10 before the AFC North rivals hook up. The Steelers lead the all-time series 35-25 and they’ve won six of the last seven in Baltimore.
Week 11: BYE WEEK
Yes! Finally a later BYE week.
Week 12: (Sunday Night) Cleveland Browns 820pmET
Cleveland busses down for a Sunday Night tilt at the confluence. By this point in the season the frontrunners in the AFC North will be known.
Week 13: NY Giants 1pmET
Pittsburgh has defeated the G-Men in four of their last five contests but they’ve also lost three of the last five in their own building.
Week 14: @Indianapolis Colts 1pmET
Are the Colts in the AFC North? It seems like we play them every, single season. It also feels like that whenever we play in Indy, it’s always a Primetime game but not this time.
Week 15: Kansas City Chiefs 425pmET
The defending World Champions come to Pittsburgh and it’s likely they’ll be looking to wrap up another AFC West title. This game could serve as a great barometer of where the Steelers are entering the final month of the season.
Week 16: (Monday Night) @Las Vegas Raiders 830pmET
The Steelers final Primetime game is in Sin City as the Steelers take on their longtime rivals the Raiders. Vegas leads the all-time series 17-15 but the Black and Gold have won three of the last five.
Week 17: Cincinnati Bengals 1pmET
Pittsburgh’s final two games are at home but they’re against division opponents. I have every belief that the Bengals and Steelers will be vying for a postseason berth making this game big as always.
Week 18: Baltimore Ravens 1pmET
The rival Ravens come to Pittsburgh to finish the season and it’s likely to be another classic, down to the wire game that could determine postseason berths and postseason positioning.
