The Kickoff
The latest depth chart for the Pittsburgh Steelers was released yesterday and many were surprised that it contained zero changes. Most notably was that the entire offensive line remained as it had been previously. Let me remind you that depth charts mean very little. If Mike McCarthy plans to start Brock Hoffman in place of Spencer Anderson then he isn’t likely to make it public until gameday. If Max Iheanachor is going to get his first start then McCarthy isn’t announcing that either. It’s gamesmanship at its finest to be honest. Whether it actually works? That’s debatable.

The last time the Steelers played Dexter Lawrence he was an absolutely menace. He had five tackles, a half sack, another tackle for loss and a hit on the QB. Now they have to deal with him twice and their line is an absolute mess. I have a hard time seeing Gennings Dunker get his first career game action against Lawrence. Therefore, it’s either Anderson or Hoffman. Good luck to both.
Additions
The Steelers signed WR Isaiah Rodgers and DB Darius Rush to the Practice Squad yesterday. This will be Rush’s second time around with the Steelers having been here in 2023 and 2024.

Apparently Seattle claims that Denver Head Coach Sean Payton was accusing the Seahawks of cheating. They used social media to identify over 100 plays that fans were posting and used them for scouting purposes ahead of the teams’ season opener last year. Can you imagine? Fans in the stands taking video at Training Camp and posting it to social media? I’m aghast! That never happens at Steelers Training Camp. Here’s where I roll my eyes…

I honestly see no way they bring him back for this game. That of course will lead to the question, period, about just where things stand. A report from Gerry Dulac stated that the Steelers offered Joey Porter, Jr $27 million per season. That doesn’t however tell us how long or how much of his extension would be guaranteed. If the defense plays well again this week and gives the team a chance to win then JPJ’s case gets worse and worse.

There’s been a lot of talk about how bad College Football Pregame shows have gotten. While true, can we also mention NFL pregame shows? They’re just as bad… Northwestern closed out their run at their make-shift stadium by the lake last weekend. If you didn’t see it, it was easily one of the best views in all of college football. Shame that they didn’t build a new stadium there… Let’s be honest; Aaron Rodgers can’t survive too many more hits like the one he took Sunday… Which is exactly why the Steelers won’t trade Mason Rudolph to one of the suddenly ‘QB needy’ teams… I’ve been very impressed with Patrick Graham’s defense overall through two weeks. If they keep us in the game Sunday against a very good offense then consider me bought in.
