SCB Steelers Quick Hitters: The “Trubisky Review” Edition

Good Thursday to you Steelers fans.

As you know, the Pittsburgh Steelers were pretty damn close to losing Sunday despite a plus-five turnover margin. There are several things you can point to as to why the game was as close as it ultimately was. The inability to run the ball was chief among them. When analyzing quarterback Mitchell Trubisky, it’s a mixed bag. On the positive side, he didn’t turn the ball over and he made some key plays with his feet and arm especially late in the game. On the negative side, he missed some throws that could have resulted in big plays. Chief among them (I’ve used this phrase twice now) was a deep shot to George Pickens down the right sideline. Had it been more accurate it could have gone for six. You aren’t going to hit every throw to be certain but he’s going to be under more and more pressure to take advantage of those opportunities when he gets them. With every week that goes by without a running game, things will only get more difficult. One thing the fan base needs to do is stop pining for Kenny Pickett every time a pass isn’t completed. It is never that simple and believe me, his time will come. Trubisky isn’t exactly helped out when guys are running into each other either. See Below

Tweet of the Day… This week’s ‘Steelers History’ segment

OLB Help

The Steelers signed outside linebacker David Anenih from the Titans’ Practice Squad. This means he will immediately go to the 53-man roster. It also likely means that T.J. Watt will go to IR meaning he’s done for four weeks minimum. I’m guessing that Anenih will be inactive this week given the short turnaround between now and the game Sunday.

I Won’t Be Surprised This Week If…

Jaylen Warren gets more snaps than he did last week. Mike Tomlin demands a lot from rookies and Warren answered that call last week. Knowing that Najee Harris isn’t 100% makes me think Warren will be used slightly more this week… Alex Highsmith comes back to Earth a bit. That’s no knock on Highsmith either because Bill Belichick finds ways to limit dangerous pass rushers… Gunner Olszewski makes a huge play in the return game. He was close a couple of times last week and now he’s playing against his former team… Pat Freiermuth has 2 TD catches.
