3,000 Plus “Thanks” to You Steelers’ Fans

by Steeldad

This past Memorial Day Weekend I noticed something as I sat down to write about our beloved Black and Gold. As I started, the ‘articles published’ number at the top of the page was sitting at 3,000. I’d be lying if I said I didn’t know it was coming but that was back around 2,950 or so and I completely lost track. About eight or nine years ago I started Steel City Blitz with the very guy who got me involved with this whole “writing thing” in the first place so blame him for everything I write that you don’t agree with (He will likely send a very mean text after reading that). The overall point I’m trying to get to is that I need to thank a lot of people.

As I set out to do this 11 years ago with my own blog, then Steeler Addicts, my intention was to give Pittsburgh Steelers’ fans an opinion that was honest and pragmatic. Most of the time I achieve this goal but like anyone, I have veered from that mantra from time to time. I was usually able to catch myself with the help of friends along the way. There is no way I could have reached this milestone without people reading what I have written and the hard truth is that if people don’t read then there really isn’t a reason to write.

Competing with the already established Steelers’ blogs was never going to be easy and frankly it’s never really been my goal. What they do is their thing and some of that just wasn’t for me. I’m not going to get into that because I’ve made good relationships with folks at some of those sites and we just do things differently is all. If you follow multiple Steelers’ sites then you largely know what makes us different.

I greatly appreciate all of the people whose insight, knowledge and connections have made me a better writer and SCB a better site. There are many individuals to thank but listing them is dangerous. I guarantee I would forget someone and I don’t want anyone I might list getting a “big head” over it. I’ve been fortunate to work with some great people over the course of my writing and I’m grateful for their expertise, commitment and friendship.

But most of all, thanks to all of you who have read and continue to read what I write. This started as a passion and a hobby and the passion is still there which is why I continue to hammer away on the keyboard. When people stop reading SCB then I’ll know it’ll be time to get on with other things. Until then, here’s to another 3,000 articles!

Thank you Steeler Nation!
