Stephen A. Smith is All of Us in Steelers Nation

ESPN’s Stephen A. Smith as you likely know is a big Pittsburgh Steelers’ fan. He might be a bigger hater of the Dallas Cowboys than he is a Steelers’ fan but he’s passionate about the Black and Gold like you and I. Smith seemed to reach his boiling point today on First Take. I’m not a fan of Smith’s often bombastic style but he is what he is and I couldn’t help but wonder if he wasn’t representing all of us with his comments.

We must remember that there is a large contingent of Steelers’ fans who have known only Ben Roethlisberger as their quarterback. But then there is us who like Smith, lived through the Post-Terry Bradshaw years. Neither group wants to go through those days again but it isn’t quite as easy as Smith and many fans are making it out to be.

With the NFL Combine underway, Mike Tomlin and Omar Khan will be watched as though they are the prey of a freeway falcon any time they go near a quarterback. It’s understandable. Fans like Smith feel like the Kenny Pickett era should be over and moving on at any cost should happen.

But like Smith, we all need to take a breath.
