Pittsburgh Steelers’ General Manager Omar Khan may have seemingly been asleep for the last several weeks but he woke up and got right to work. According to numerous reports, the Steelers have traded a second round pick for Seattle Seahawks’ wide receiver D.K. Metcalf. Reportedly, Metcalf has agreed to a five-year $150 million contract.

The Steelers and Seahawks are also swapping late round picks as well. With his new deal, Metcalf becomes the highest-paid player in franchise history. In six seasons in Seattle, Metcalf has been incredibly durable playing in nearly every game since he entered the league. He has 438 career receptions and 48 touchdowns.

In the moments after the trade was announced, other social media accounts reported that George Pickens may be traded now.

If that’s the case and the Steelers can get a third round pick or better for Pickens then it would be a job well done for Khan and the front office. With Metcalf now the highest paid Steeler, I would have to think that T.J. Watt may be in line for even more money than any of us may have thought.

The statistics are pretty clear on pass rushers once they get to age 30 and beyond and I’m very concerned about paying Watt so much money. That’s for another day however as Khan did the one thing we as fans demand from him; he made the Steelers better.

Yes, the second round pick may be difficult to part with but in this case I believe it’s worth it.
