SCB Steelers Training Camp Tidbits Day Thirteen

by Steeldad

Welcome to the new Steel City Blitz Steelers Training Camp Tidbits presented by Taps N’At! This is a brand new feature this year and every single day from now until the end of Camp you’ll see tidbits right here. Our goal is simple; provide you with everything we are seeing, hearing and learning from St. Vincent College in Latrobe. This will be an abbreviated piece as the Steelers practice later than usual today.

If you’re going….

Steelers Practice for Monday: The Team is Off Today/ Tuesday at 255pm ET

Latrobe Weather for Monday: No Practice so it doesn’t matter!

Latest on the Injury Front… T.J. Watt has missed more than a week of practices now with his leg muscle injury. At this time I am not going to sweat it much but if we are still talking about this in two weeks? Then I’m concerned. Still nothing on Antonio  Brown as well. I’m hoping silence is golden.

Practice yesterday looked more like a Picasso painting because it was all over the place. Due to the weather conditions there was very little done outside. Therefore the practice report is limited going into today’s off day.

Marcus Gilbert and David DeCastro were given the “veteran’s day off” if you will on Sunday.

Why today? Normally the Steelers always have Tuesday of each week off. With the Thursday night game against the Eagles coming up Mike Tomlin gave the players today off instead. This means practice on Tuesday before the team heads to Philly.

In terms of what did go on at practice on the field, the one big play was made by Jordan Dangerfield who stoned Jaylen Samuels in the goal line drill. Some of you are probably thinking, “We still have Dangerfield on the roster?”

I do not expect to see Ben Roethlisberger on Thursday night. I’m guessing there will be a significant portion of the first half given to Landry Jones then the second half will be split up between Josh Dobbs and Mason Rudolph.

Speaking of Rudolph, he admitted this week that the mental part of the game has been tough. This isn’t surprising and should not be an indictment of his overall ability or future. Give the kid credit for being honest.

Big thanks go out Joey Bag of Donuts for having Ben and I on his “Donut Bag” Podcast last night! Check it out!

It may be an off day but that doesn’t mean you can’t head to Taps N’At for some chow and cold beverages!!
