SCB Steelers Training Camp Tidbits Day One

by Steeldad

Welcome to the new Steel City Blitz Steelers Training Camp Tidbits presented by Taps N’At! This is a brand new feature this year and every single day from now until the end of Camp you’ll see tidbits right here. Our goal is simple; provide you with everything we are seeing, hearing and learning from St. Vincent’s College in Latrobe.

While the rookies reported yesterday, the veteran players will arrive today starting at Noon Eastern. Some will arrive more privately than others and those ‘others’ are always the ones that grab our attention. Brett Keisel and his front-end loader are a thing of the past so we turn our attention to Antonio Brown who has arrived in a custom Rolls Royce before. This year? Anyone’s guess but I’m sure it will be something similar. For you historians out there will Jesse James arrive in a ‘Ford’ truck again?

There’s very little media coverage of today’s events in Latrobe. Later this afternoon will be the conditioning test where the media can watch but there is no video allowed. Past conditioning tests have often revealed things we knew like Casey Hampton not being in shape. Some guys will probably be allowed to skip it if they have minor injuries as well.

If you’re heading to Camp please consider the short trip to Taps N’At for a cold beer or outstanding variety of traditional bar food! It’s located at 152 Bank St. Derry, PA so punch it into your GPS and tell Jess we sent you!!

This coming Saturday July 28th, the Steelers will announce the second class for their Hall of Honor at 1pm at St. Vincent’s College. 27 former players, coaches and front office personnel were inducted last year. Who gets in this season? We’ll have it for you Saturday!

Do I need to tell you that Le’Veon Bell won’t be at Training Camp???

If you’re at Camp this year and you see people helping to park cars or helping around the facility please tell them “thank you.” The Steelers continue to be a franchise that DOES NOT CHARGE for entry to Training Camp and that shouldn’t go unnoticed. They rely on a lot of volunteer help too so please keep these folks in mind as you enjoy your day there!

The Stairway to Seven begins here!
