Good Monday to you Steelers’ Fans! Hope you enjoyed Mother’s Day wherever you were.

The Pittsburgh Steelers ran their rookies through a third day of mini-camp on Sunday and Head Coach Mike Tomlin shared some thoughts on the camp so far. He called it “a great weekend” and “very productive.” One of the more important things he said though was this. “It’s more about getting our feet on the ground, teaching these guys some cultural things,” said Tomlin. “Getting to know them, how they learn, how their bodies work. That is my agenda. I am not looking to be impressed, or disappointed in anything that I see physically at this point. We are just not there yet.” It’s crucial to understand what he’s saying especially there at the end. It’s way too early in the process to ask for anything more. (quotes courtesy steelers.com)

Wanted to wish Javancy Jones, a young man from Jackson State, that we interviewed prior to the draft the best of luck. After being released by Arizona he has decided not to sign with Tennessee. He is ready to get on with his life’s work which he hopes will include coaching. This guy is going to be successful in life I can tell you that.

While I’m just as excited as everyone else about the rookies being in action, the exaggeration about what is going on with them is often too much for me. I wrote about that yesterday.

Tweet of the Day… Fantastic tweet from Cam.

One thing I was not surprised to hear about a the rookie mini-camp was the speed and ‘get off’ of seventh-round draft pick Keion Adams. I had a chance to see a lot of him at Western Michigan University and his speed was never a question. While he’s a long shot to make the roster what I love best about Adams is his relentlessness. He just doesn’t stop and that can often lead to good things down the road.

The Steel City Blitz Podcast presented by 26shirts.com/Pittsburgh will be on the air Thursday night at 10pm Eastern!

It was announced this week that Beth Mowins and Rex Ryan will be calling the Chargers-Broncos Monday Night game on September 11th. Some people have an issue with a woman calling a football game. Actually, my bigger issue is Rex Ryan calling a football game!

Have a great week Steeler Nation!
