SCB Steelers Quick Hitters: The “Taking Shape” Edition

Good Wednesday to you Steelers’ Fans.

There was no one more happy to be back at the Steelers’ Practice Facility yesterday than the 90 guys who are fighting for roster spots. Well, unless you count the guys who were part of “Team Turmoil” as the 2018 season came to an end. There are two things that cure many problems that teams face. One of course is winning, the other is just simply getting back on the field. That’s where the Steelers found themselves on day one of Phase Three of OTAs and if you listened to the comments you could hear the enthusiasm in the voices of the veterans. OTAs are a small step towards a much larger goal and things are already taking shape after just a day on the field. Notice I am not declaring this team a division winner or a Super Bowl contender. Things certainly seem better in the locker room but I’m not getting ahead of myself and nor should you. That doesn’t mean we can’t enjoy the positive start and the positive energy yesterday illustrated. Here’s hoping it continues right on through the season.

We recorded episode 135 of the Steel City Blitz Steelers Podcast presented by 26shirts.com/Pittsburgh last evening. Our discussions ranged from Ben Roethlisberger’s comments to positional discussions as Phase Three of OTAs got underway! Check it out here or just about wherever you can find podcasts these days!

Tweet of the Day… Marcus Spears is everything that’s wrong with sports talk today. I’ll let this tweet from our Ben Anderson say the rest.

Have you visited our official SCB Store yet? We have some really cool designs and several more on the way. From the site to JuJu, Devin Bush and even more. Check it out!

Steelers’ Captain Cam Heyward sounded very much like a captain yesterday when he declared ‘he was done talking about people who weren’t on this team.’ Amen Cam… A-Freaking-Men.

No surprise at all to me that the Steelers put a waiver claim on tight end Jordan Leggett who is off to Tampa Bay. The Steelers have to upgrade the position behind Vance McDonald. No way can they go into the season with Xavier Grimble and Zach Gentry as the back-ups.

With all of the talk about players one thing I’m excited about is to see how Mike Tomlin functions with assistance on challenges and game management situations. There is no bigger sign of maturity than being able to change how you do things for the improvement of the situation. Let’s hope we see the benefits.

Have a great Wednesday Steeler Nation!
