Good Tuesday to you Steelers’ Fans!
Jordan Mailata is 6’8″ and 345 pounds. He’s just 20 years old and is a rugby superstar in Australia and today he will workout for the Steelers in Pittsburgh in hopes of becoming a professional football player. If you haven’t seen this young man on the rugby field then you need to check him out. I’ve posted his highlights via YouTube below. What do the Steelers hope to gain by rolling him out? Lightning in a bottle is the best way to put it. Mailata has done many of the same drills that combine participants did and he’s very comparable to the top offensive linemen. His ten yard shuttle would have ranked in the top ten had he been in Indianapolis. It’s thought that he could be either an offensive tackle or defensive lineman. What needs to be understood here is that the transformation from rugby to professional football isn’t as easy as some might think. Many things, especially good tackling form do translate though so who knows? Working this kid out doesn’t cost much and the benefits far outweigh the risks. In other words, what the hell?
Make sure you’re keeping track of all of the prospect visits right here at SCB. Ian is getting the latest visits out each day! Here is the latest which includes a guy many believe the Steelers are targeting in the first.
Tweet of the Day… Um. Pretty sure this isn’t a good idea.
Am I the only person that pumps gas while the car is on?

Over the last several years at this time there has been some guesswork as to whether the Steelers will finally move to Mike Tomlin’s preferred 4-3 defense. As the unit exists on this day, the personnel is not there for it along the front nor at the linebacker positions. Cam Heyward is versatile enough to do whatever you need him to do but that isn’t true for some of the other guys. Speculation will be greater because of the addition of Karl Dunbar who has predominantly coached four man fronts. The biggest sign of a potential change though will come from the draft. Pay attention to any defensive linemen or linebackers that are chosen. It’s not a done deal by any stretch but the picks could be revealing.
Here’s my latest Draft Profile. This one on cornerback/returnman Darius Phillips of Western Michigan.
Tweet of the Day #2…. Pretty cool gesture by Ben Roethlisberger this week making one fan’s dream come true!
