SCB Steelers Quick Hitters: The “Owner Mentality” Edition

Good Monday to you Steelers’ Fans!

I don’t know about you but I’m still waiting for Antonio Brown to answer his final four questions from his tweet-up the other day. I mean, he said he would answer ten questions and by my count he only answered six. The suspense is killing me! OK maybe not. There was a lot to take from his impromptu Q and A this weekend but perhaps the most interesting was his comment about Ben Roethlisberger having an “owner mentality.” He went on to say that he feels that Big Ben is allowed to get away with critical comments of coaches and players whereas others are not. This may be true but AB is clearly not understanding one of the key roles of the quarterback in the NFL. While “owner” is a bit of a stretch, a QB has leeway and powers within a team that no other player has. When we look at the history of the position, is it any wonder that it’s often referred to as the ‘field general?’ As I’ve said many times, Roethlisberger has his flaws but Brown’s current situation is a result of his actions and no one else’s.

Need further evidence of Peter “Patriot” King’s love affair with the Patriots? I’ll even add the link. A Steelers’ fan asks him why he sucks up to the Pats so much and in King’s defense he makes some valid arguments about how much times have changed in terms of media coverage. Then you scroll down and there’s King defending the Pats’ signing of Greg Schiano (who can’t keep a job anywhere) as defensive coordinator. Embarrassing.

Tweet of the Day… I could be wrong but Stephon Tuitt seems to have a message here.

It’s expected that Brown will meet with Art Rooney II this week. While I wouldn’t be a bit surprised if it doesn’t happen here’s what I can tell you is likely to take place. ARII will sit with Brown and his agent Drew Rosenhaus. It will likely be made clear that the Steelers control where Brown goes in a trade, not the other way around. ARII may even suggest Brown and his agent do some of the leg work to see who is interested in trading for him. Again, ARII will make it clear that just because they find a suitor that doesn’t mean it will work for the Steelers. I also expect that ARII will request time alone with Brown in order to understand exactly what got him to this point. The reason? The Steelers need to know because to this point AB hasn’t spoken to any of his bosses and has instead chosen to speak through social media. Is there a chance at reconciliation? I never say “never” but I don’t expect it in this case.

Pretty nice settlement for Colin Kaepernick huh? I was way off with that number! I have to believe his lawyers found something in the way of collusion to warrant getting that much.

Have a great day Steeler Nation!
