Good Tuesday to you Steelers Fans!
Today being Tuesday means an off day for the players. Since they arrived to St. Vincent College last Wednesday, the Steelers have been going a mile-a-minute. When you throw in how much the team is banged up this quickly and today becomes a very deserved day off indeed!
I’m a ‘hat guy’ and have been since I was a kid. So you may be able to imagine my excitement for the unveiling of this year’s New Era line of Steelers’ hats. Wait no longer my friends! This is what they are calling the “Home and Away” Collection.
Today, New Era Cap Co. Inc., the official on field cap of the NFL, announced the launch of the New Era 2018 Official NFL Sideline Home and Away Collection, which will be worn on NFL sidelines during the 2018- 2019 NFL season. This new cap collection is the first to give fans a unique look whether their team is defending their turf at home or leading an attack on the road. “We know fans are always looking for different and unique ways to complete their game day outfits, which is why we designed this year’s on-field cap collection with more options than ever before,” said Ryan DiNunzio, Director of Football for New Era Cap. “This season, fans will be able to style their headwear to match their favorite players whether they are at home or on the road.”
The New Era NFL Home and Away Collection, offers a mix of silhouettes for both HOME and AWAY including the classic 59FIFTY® fitted, LP59FIFTY® fitted, the 9FIFTY® snapback, the 39THIRTY® stretch fit, the HOME sideline visor and the women’s 9FORTY® adjustable. The Home cap features a side panel detail of the team’s uniform to unite fans and encourage teams to DEFEND their turf. The Away cap is designed with a scoreboard abbreviation on the side and a completely new logo crest, like a banner, to rally fans and encourage teams to lead an ATTACK on the road. Both the HOME and AWAY collections are constructed with New Era performance fabrics that include cooling properties. As part of the sideline collection, New Era has also created a Color Rush 59FIFTY® and 39THIRTY® monochromatic team cap featuring a team logo on the front, team uniform detail on the right side, and team slogan on the interior taping. The Color Rush caps will be worn on the sidelines by certain teams during Color Rush match ups. These caps are the perfect addition to any game day outfit, designed with cooling properties of New Era’s HEX TECH and Shadow Tech Heather performance fabrics.
The New Era NFL Home and Away Collection will be available at neweracap.com on Monday, July 30th as well as most sporting goods and headwear retailers with a retail price range of $26-$35 USD. Here’s the direct link to the Steelers.

Ben Roethlisberger’s weight might be more discussed than anyone outside of Oprah. His official weight has been listed at 250 which is 10 plus pounds lighter than recent years. What you have to keep in mind is his overall size and frame. He can carry a lot of weight and not look like it. My feeling on this simple; whatever he feels good at works for me.
Steelers’ President Art Rooney II dipped his toes back into the National Anthem controversy this past weekend. “Of course everybody wants the players to be standing, including most of the players,” Rooney said in a weekend appearance on NFL Network, via SportsBusiness Daily. “At the end of last season, we were down to just a handful of players that were protesting at the anthem, so the vast majority of players want to be focused on football, don’t want to be getting into politics on the field. If everyone has that mindset, we can work something out.” (quote courtesy profootballtalk.com)
I think Mr. Rooney would be surprised by how many players would NOT like to stand but they understand what they are to do.
