SCB Steelers Quick Hitters: The “Looking Beyond” Edition

Good Thursday to you Steelers’ Fans.

If you go back, probably back to the moment when we realized the Steelers weren’t making the playoffs, would you have ever dreamed this is where we’d find ourselves? But while Antonio Brown continues to tweet utterly ridiculous stuff, I’m looking ahead but just for a moment. I say that because it wouldn’t shock me one bit to see AB still a Steeler in July but bear with me. If as expected he is traded, this does not mean the world is ending. Randy Fichtner will have to get creative and I think he will. JuJu Smith-Schuster will become the number one receiver but the real pressure may be on James Washington or whoever becomes the number two receiver. Vance McDonald’s role will increase and I expect to see more sets that utilize both James Conner and Jaylen Samuels. The chances are strong that Pittsburgh will draft for or trade for (or both) a receiver. As often as the Steelers use three and four wide this will be necessary. My optimism with this centers around balance. If they can become more balanced without AB constantly demanding the ball then perhaps this offense can click.

The Steel City Blitz Steelers Podcast presented by 26shirts.com/Pittsburgh records tonight. We will have all the latest on Brown and give you the most accurate info on cap ramifications that you’ll find anywhere!

The best comment I’ve seen on the AB situation has been from Cris Carter on Fox Sports One. He nailed it. And that leads to today’s…

Tweet of the Day

AB does understand that it isn’t up to him as to where he may end up right? He posted a poll on social media yesterday asking fans where they thought he should go. What they think and what he thinks doesn’t matter. If the Steelers get a deal they like from a team, that’s where he’s going.

Ravens’ QB Joe Flacco is reportedly off to Denver in a trade that will net them a mid-round draft pick. I think this is a bit of a desperate move by John Elway. Flacco has been injured and has been very pedestrian in recent years. Perhaps Elway thinks Flacco will be able to get more pass interference calls with the higher elevation.

Thoughts go out to the famous “Pittsburgh Dad” whose YouTube videos have become a must for any Steelers’ fan. The inspiration for his character who was his father passed away this week. If you haven’t seen Pittsburgh Dad then you need to because he’s an absolute classic.

Have a great day Steeler Nation!
