SCB Steelers Quick Hitters: The “Keep Shalievin” Edition

Good Monday to you Steelers’ Fans.

Have you ever told someone that you were going to achieve a certain goal only for them to tell you they don’t see it happening? At that moment you can either be deflated and give up or it can build resolve and motivate you even more. This is likely what Ryan Shazier faces on a daily basis. To this point, Shazier still believes he will play football again. He also still has the goal of making the Pro Football Hall of Fame too. I’m the last person to tell another that his or her dreams and goals are unreachable and I’ll take that same approach with Shazier. The difference in my mind is that Shazier has already made tremendous strides from where things were on that day in Cincinnati. This is an elite athlete who was unable to walk. His value of life had changed in a single second and now that he’s come as far as he has I can’t help but worry about him playing again. To be clear, I’m not saying Shazier shouldn’t do this or shouldn’t do that in terms of returning to the game. I’m worried about him and I’m sure I’m not alone in that. He’s a young, newly married father who has already achieved so much from where he was. I just hate to think of something happening again that puts him back to square one but… that’s not my decision. It’s his and I’ll respect it and I’ll support him 100%.

Tweet of the Day… JuJu is like many other football players who can’t help but react when they see these NBA contracts.

Speaking of that… I realize that NFL free agency is a big deal but does anyone else get the feeling that NBA free agency is almost bigger than the actual season? It’s as if fans enjoy talking more about what teams players are going to versus actually discussing on-court happenings. Can you imagine if free agency didn’t exist? What on Earth would we talk about??

Congratulations to former Steelers’ tight end Jesse James who was married this past weekend. James is now a Detroit Lion and signed a much bigger free agent deal than he would have received from the Steelers.

Can someone explain this new “Head and Shoulders” television ad to me? It shows a young lady in a Steelers’ jersey sitting next to a young man in a Patriots’ jersey. Apparently they are on the “kiss cam” and because she used Head and Shoulders she had the confidence to kiss him. Look, I understand there are couples all over the world who root for rival teams. I have no idea how these relationships work but nevertheless… I’m of the opinion that this young lady (if this were an actual situation) be immediately stripped of her membership in Steeler Nation. I’m physically ill just describing this commercial.

Have a great Monday Steeler Nation!
