Good Thursday to You Steelers’ Fans!
With every passing day there is more speculation about the future of Le’Veon Bell. The speculation is centered on two things; WHEN will he show up and WHAT will the Steelers do with him? Let me do my best to lay out the possibilities here. I’ve already stated how they may use him on the field, what I’m talking about today is how they use him based on their standing. Let’s assume Bell returns following the week eight game against Cleveland. Week eight is also the trade deadline and once he knows he isn’t going anywhere he’ll show up. The Steelers will either be 3-3-1 or 4-2-1. If we assume he’ll need at least two weeks to get ready that means he’s available for the week 11 game at Jacksonville. What do they do if James Conner is still rolling along and the team is still winning? Will Mike Tomlin want to infuse Bell back into the offense despite the fact it would be running so well? The easy scenario is if the Steelers are stumbling around the .500 mark and are looking up at the rest of the division. How then do you get Bell into the offense? Some would argue at that point just wear him out so you don’t take any more tread off of Conner. That’s not always how teams and players think though. I have no doubt the Steelers already have a plan in place for just about every scenario. What that plan is? We won’t know until we get there.
I know people want to see Antonio Brown gets his big numbers week in and week out but I continue to believe that Ben Roethlisberger is a better quarterback when he isn’t trying to force throws to Brown. Last week was a perfect example. He as using tight ends, backs and other receivers and AB still got his numbers and moment to shine.
Tweet of the Day… We need more respected voices from guys like Joe Thomas talking about Vontaze Burfict.
I’m shocked it has taken this long for the NFL to act…maybe they’re too busy worrying about if someone accidentally falls on a QB during a tackle https://t.co/ucFg7aGWtW

At what point does the NFL actually make a statement about the three incidents they are allegedly reviewing from Sunday? The longer this goes the more I believe nothing will be done. I’ve actually seen Bengals’ discussing Burfict on social media and many of them get it. He’s become an embarrassment for them. But who is to blame for letting him go on with his dangerous style? We can blame the NFL and rightfully so but doesn’t Marvin Lewis bear some responsibility as well? Talent always trumps trouble but how effective is Burfict anymore as a player anyway? If you want to point fingers start with Lewis but don’t forget the enabling owner Mike Brown either.
USA Today is already talking about the “difficult road” the Rams have to take to get to 19-0. Seriously? We are six games in! Maybe we can wait until this team is 11 or 12-0 before we start this kind of crap.
There is a report that the Arizona Cardinals will take a first round draft pick for cornerback Patrick Peterson. Here’s what has to be thought about if you’re the Steelers. Would you rather get a guy you know can play but will cost you some money or do you use the first round pick you would have traded for him and draft a CB who will be worth a lot less? Considering the Steelers dubious history drafting corners recently the ‘former’ may be the way to go.
Someone asked me the other day if the Steelers should think about re-doing their logo. After immediately body-slamming this person I said, “hell no!” and walked away.
Have a great day Steeler Nation!
