Happy Hump Day Steelers’ Fans!

And more importantly…. Happy New League Year!

The National Football League officially begins its’ 2018 year today at 4pm Eastern time. In years past, this afternoon would have been the first time we could have heard about free agent movement. But with the new “legal” tampering 48 hours prior to the league year beginning, that has taken on a different feel altogether.

Why? Why, why, why……? Are you surprised the Steelers haven’t been active yet in free agency? We go through this every single season. The Steelers are always one of the least active teams during the beginning of free agency. This does not mean I’m a fan of their strategy this particular season. I think there were a handful of linebackers they could have strongly pursued but those guys are being picked up fast. This means the Steelers better hit some home runs late in free agency and in the draft. Regardless, this is how the Steelers operate so stop trying to wish it were any different.

The Steel City Blitz Steelers Podcast 63 presented by 26shirts.com/Pittsburgh will record tonight. From free agent needs, to position shuffling, we are hitting a number of topics.

Tweet of the Day… It was fun while it lasted JuJu

Wanted to say congrats to Chris Hubbard. Although he’s going to rival Cleveland, he’s a perfect example of a guy who busted his ass and took advantage of some playing time to create a great financial opportunity for himself. I wish him the best except for when he plays the Steelers:)

The Steelers re-structured the contract of Alejandro Villanueva yesterday. It is expected that this move will create about $4.5 million in cap space.

Both Mike Mitchell and William Gay are expected to be released today. My feelings on Mitchell are well-known; Don’t let the door hit ya…

Ravens’ safety Eric Weddle said that Sam Bradford has been paid more for doing nothing than anyone else in the league. He’s not totally wrong but Chase Daniel has to be right up there. The career backup has made millions and I mean MILLIONS for holding a clipboard.

Have a great day Steeler Nation!
