Good Thursday to you Steelers fans.
You have to hand it to Omar Khan. The Pittsburgh Steelers’ General Manager just gets things done doesn’t he? In what has already been an incredibly busy offseason, Khan added to it yesterday by signing Outside Linebacker Alex Highsmith to a four-year $68 million extension. I shared some reasons why this gone done last night, but one thing it does is it takes a potential ‘Training Camp Storyline’ off the board. Not surprisingly, Highsmith’s teammates were quick to congratulate him via social media and don’t dismiss that as just normal behavior. You earn the respect of your teammates through hard work, availability and toughness among other things and clearly Highsmith has done that in his first three seasons in Black and Gold. To Khan’s credit, he just keeps getting things done like a regular grocery store shopper. He checks one thing off at a time.
The Podcast

Best of the Century
Ian has been busy hammering away at a really cool series. He’s looking at the Top 50 Steelers of the 21st Century. Lists like this are always up for debate but Ian feels very confident he’s nailed this list and who am I to doubt him?
The Division
It’s not a secret that the Cincinnati Bengals will be the favorites to win the AFC North in 2023. This, if it happens, would be their third straight division crown. Three-peats don’t happen often in this division either. In fact, since this format of the division started at the turn of the century, no team has ever won three straight. If I know anything about the AFCN it’s that it will almost always come down to those final two weeks. The Ravens will be better having settled Lamar Jackson’s contract and he’ll have his best corps of wideouts that he’s had there. But the Ravens have question marks too. We already know the Steelers have question marks as well and the Browns? It’s expected Deshaun Watson will be better with a full offseason and Jim Schwartz will have the defense better but they’re still the Browns. In other words, your money is probably safe on the Bengals but remember, it only takes one injury to change the entire landscape.
