SCB Steelers Quick Hitters: The “Fans in Stands” Edition

by Steeldad

Good Thursday to you Steelers fans.

It’s going to be different in every stadium. Some will have a few fans, some will have no fans and some will have (many?) fans. What we know in Pittsburgh is that the Steelers plan to have some fans in the seats at Heinz Field. We still don’t have a final determination of how a percentage or a number that will be allowed. Dallas Owner and mouthpiece Jerry Jones said the Cowboys will play in front of fans. Currently, Texas allows 50% of capacity in public places like ATT Stadium. If my math is correct, that’s about 50,000 people in that stadium. Is social distancing required? Masks? Who will enforce things if there are such requirements? And I ask this of any stadium. The Washington Team has already said there will be no fans in their stadium and other teams have said as much as well. Steelers LB Vince Williams was lamenting the thought of not having “Renegade” this fall. They may play it but it sure won’t be the same!! All I can say about this personally is that right now I just want football. Yes, I’d like fans but I’ll just take some football right now and I’m guessing you would too.

The Podcast

Episode 182 of the SCB Steelers Podcast is up for your enjoyment. We discussed the crowded running back situation and who might be the odd man out. We also addressed the depth issues at LB and safety and chimed in on a few other things as well. The podcast is presented by DEK Roofing Inc of South Florida.

Tweet of the Day… As I mentioned above.

Good Job NFL

One of the key factors that is monitored to weigh the severity of COVID-19 is something called the “positivity rate.” Any rate that is 2% or lower is typically consider good. Any rate at 3% or above is usually worthy of a “that’s not good” from public health officials. The NFL has had over 50,000 tests and they rest under 1%. This is good news and makes me think of Mike Tomlin’s words to his team. “One fail, we all fail.” He’s absolutely right. We all need to hope that the players, coaches and team personnel continue to do the right things.

Uh, What’s Up Pac-Man?

Did you happen to catch former Bengals CB this week burning Joe Haden jerseys on Instagram? He thinks Haden sent them as a prank but Haden replied saying he did not. I really hoped I’d never have to comment on Pac-Man ever again but I was wrong.

Samuels Back

The Steelers announced this morning that RB Jaylen Samuels has been activated from the Reserve/Covid-19 list. To make room for him the team released FB Spencer Nigh.
