Good Gameday to you Steelers fans.
The much-loved ‘color rush’ uniforms return this evening as the Steelers host the New England Patriots. I find the term ‘rush’ perfect for this evening because I’m not sure how much rushing we will actually see. The Patriots are one of the absolute best teams in football at stopping the running attacks of opposing teams while the Steelers have gradually gotten better over the course of the last several weeks save for last week’s hiccup. Therefore, we could likely see a game with a lot of passing and I’m not so sure that’s good for either team. We still don’t really know who will start at quarterback for the Pats and Mitchell Trubisky starts for the Black and Gold in place of Kenny Pickett. Trubisky’s experience is invaluable but it hasn’t kept him from throwing some ill-timed interceptions either. Enjoy the beautiful uniforms tonight because that could be the only thing worth watching.

If Najee Can’t Go Then What…
With Najee Harris unable to practice all week due to his knee issue, it’s unlikely that he’ll play. Mike Tomlin rarely lets guys play who can’t at least practice once leading up to a game. Now, there’s precedent for him to violate that plan but if Harris doesn’t go tonight what does that mean? I would assume that Anthony McFarland, who has been a healthy scratch of late, would have to support Jaylen Warren as the backup. If McFarland isn’t the guy then it falls on Godwin Igwebuike who has played on seven different teams now and has yet to carry the ball for the Steelers. It’s all moot if Harris plays but I’m very curious to see what happens this evening.
UPDATE: Several reports indicate that Harris WILL play tonight.
Watt Calls
T.J. Watt finally snapped on Sunday and while it wasn’t the best time to do it, he had a valid point. The NFL’s most elite pass rusher has only drawn two holding calls since 2021 and he’s legitimately being held almost every time he rushes the passer. It will be very interesting to see if the NFL was listening.
It’s OK to be Critical of Your Faves
One of the biggest problems I have with fellow Steelers’ fans is their inability to be objective. We all have our favorite players or players that we just tend to root for but if you can’t admit when that player or those players don’t play well or do something dumb then that’s on you. There isn’t one guy in the Pittsburgh Steelers Hall of Honor that played perfectly every time he set foot on the field. If you aren’t open to criticism of Kenny Pickett or Najee Harris or Diontae Johnson or whomever then I don’t know what to tell you.
