SCB Steelers Quick Hitters: The “Calling Them Out” Edition

Good Monday to you Steelers’ fans.

Nobody likes to beat a dead horse quite like I do but I can’t help it. I’ve had enough. I’ve had enough of the smear campaign former players and others have been waging against Ben Roethlisberger without merit of any kind whatsoever. I was so frustrated last night I sat down and wrote this piece about it so I hope you enjoy it…. When other former players and respected NFL voices start calling these guys out on social media then I know for darn sure this is a bunch of crap. Here’s your first ‘tweet of the day’ from former Steelers’ Offensive Lineman Trai Essex.

The second ‘Tweet of the day” is from probably the most vocal and respected NFL injury expert on social media in  Dr. David Chao.

The fact that people like this are calling out Thomas Davis and Chris Canty is a good thing in my opinion. Perhaps it will help slow down or even stop this hyperbolic nonsense.

Didn’t Do Anything Great???

Good article from Mark Kaboly of The Athletic today about how good the defense was in 2019 but he cited some interesting words from an interesting source in the piece. Yes, they led the league in sacks and turnovers and ranked quite high in many other categories but “Didn’t do anything great.” This is a line Kaboly says that Terrell Edmunds spoke. I don’t mean to pile on the young man but he’s really the last one that should be saying this. Despite over 1,000 snaps he didn’t have an interception or cause a fumble in 2019. Some years are just like that, I know, but I don’t think he’s the one I’d be listening to when saying the defense “didn’t do anything great.”

Have a great day Steeler Nation!
