SCB Steelers Quick Hitters: The ‘Blonde Bourbon’ Edition

Good Friday to you Steelers fans.

Every person that’s a fan of something can probably recall when they became a fan. For me, I was on the floor playing as a kid when I looked up at the TV and saw these Black and Gold jerseys standing out like the sun on a clear day. It was one guy in particular though that immediately grabbed my attention. He was the guy with the blonde hair coming from the back of his helmet. He seemed to be in control of everything and always had the ball. That’s when my fascination with Terry Bradshaw and the Pittsburgh Steelers began. You need to know this because on Monday I had a chance to talk with Jason from the bottling company that makes Bradshaw Bourbon. It was clear that he and I had a similar vision and quite frankly, I felt bad for him. I must have sounded as excited as a kid in a candy store. I’m not sure I ever let him say a word for a few minutes. Once I settled down and the call was over, I was still beaming. We had just agreed on a partnership. Our podcast and Terry Bradshaw’s Bourbon were now working together. I announced this last night on the latest show and we could not be more excited about this. Me, affiliated with the Blonde Bomber. Ya can’t make this shit up.

The Podcast

Episode 325 of the SCB Steelers Podcast presented by DEK Roofing Inc of South Florida is now available for your listening and/or viewing pleasure. The show now originates from the Bradshaw Bourbon Studio. We discussed potential nominees for this year’s Hall of Honor and dove into some Training Camp battles as well. In the weeks to come we’ll be giving away some Bradshaw Bourbon gear and maybe even some bourbon too!

Tweet of the Day… He is not lying.

Thoughts on Camp

If you are going to Training Camp for the first time then I suggest you talk with as many fans as possible who have been there before. Knowing where to go, when to arrive, where to get autographs, where to watch the action… There really is a lot to know if you want to have a great experience. It’s been quite awhile since I’ve been there so I’m not really the best source of information any longer.

Sack Race

As many of you know, there is going to be one heck of a race going on this year within the Steelers’ run to a seventh Super Bowl title. James Harrison is the team’s all-time leader in sacks and he’s followed closely by Cam Heyward and T.J. Watt. With both of these guys playing together, it’s going to be fun to see who breaks the record first.

James Harrison 80.5 sacks
Cam Heyward 78.5 sacks
T.J. Watt 77.5 sacks

Obviously, Watt will become the all-time leader should he be able to remain healthy. Heyward, despite playing at a high level, is much closer to retirement than is Watt. Common sense will tell us that Watt will pull away and hide with the record simply because he’s younger and because of his position. That said, health is the biggest issue and let’s hope it isn’t an issue for either of these guys.
