SCB Steelers Quick Hitters: The “Bet On It” Edition

by Steeldad
Zach Banner of the Steelers. steelcityblitz.com

Good Friday to you Steelers fans.

After looking at all major legal sportsbooks where you can bet in Pennsylvania, the Pittsburgh Steelers will be playing at home as the underdogs against the Tennessee Titans by 1.5 points. Many think the home advantage and the need for a win will be a big factor. Be aware that Pennsylvania’s sports betting regulations also includes the ability to bet remotely from your mobile device. It would not be surprising to see the Steelers play well considering the circumstances they are facing. A loss puts them almost completely out of the postseason while a win keeps them alive. Something to consider if you’re wagering this weekend.

Injury Thoughts: Friday is always the huge day when it comes to whether or not a guy can go on Sunday but the arrow is certainly up on T.J. Watt, Carlos Davis and Alex Highsmith… The Titans have a surprising number of guys who did not practice on Thursday.

Banner

During a season of several mysteries one of the biggest continues to be Zach Banner. How is it you pay a guy over $9 million over two years based on one half of play? That’s essentially what the Steelers did. Banner started the opening game in New York last year then tore his ACL during the game. So now well over a year later Banner has played all of four snaps on offense. Do I understand that some injuries take longer than others to heal? Of course but something just doesn’t add up. Kevin Colbert and company rolled the dice on Banner and I’m not sure that was a good idea anyway. During his limited play there wasn’t exactly a lot to be excited about which only adds to the mystery of why they paid him. He’s a terrific young man but I just don’t understand what’s going on.

Want to be a QB?

The Cleveland Browns have both Baker Mayfield and Case Keenum on their Covid-19 lists as of right now. With a Saturday afternoon game it is going to be difficult for either to get those two positive tests back to back but we’ll see. Perhaps Bernie Kosar has one more game left in him?
