SCB Steelers’ Quick Hitters: The “Back in Action Vol. 2” Edition

Good day Steelers’ Fans! Hope you were able to get some time away for Labor Day.

The Steelers themselves were back on the practice field for the first time since a rash of moves were made by the front office. Those moves continued yesterday. Cam Sutton was placed on the Injured Reserve/Designated to Return List while Jordan Dangerfield was sent packing. The team also brought back linebacker Steven Johnson as well. For Sutton, it means he is eligible to return during the season and he’ll need the time with a very bad hamstring.

Dangerfield was not happy about being waived but let’s be very honest here. Dangerfield is a ‘box safety’ or in other words, he’s best in the when up closer to the line of scrimmage. His flaw is that he’s not a good cover guy and in the NFL you have to be able to cover when necessary. If teams ran all the time Dangerfield would be a great guy to have.

Mike Mitchell practiced yesterday which was a very good sign. If he goes and plays Sunday there’s one thing we don’t want to hear about afterwards and that would be “communication issues.” As Ben Anderson pointed out on Twitter yesterday, that excuse has been used before and I for one am not buying it. If he doesn’t play, Rob Golden would get the start.

Tweet of the Day… Former Steelers’ Coach Bill Cowher taking in some tennis action.

What to look for from SCB this week… Don’t miss Cnic’s Fantasy Football “Start or Sit” article… Ian has already been hard at work on Pitt, WPIAL and American Ninja Warrior content to go along with his Steelers’ stuff… Tay will be live tweeting from the SCB account and I’ll have the game preview Sponsored by ‘Nail the Number’ coming up as well.

There’s also word that Mitchell may be willing to give up his number 23 for Joe Haden. This will of course come with a steep price I’m sure but veterans like Mitchell usually aren’t this willing to give up their numbers.

Team captains were announced yesterday. Ben Roethlisberger captains the offense while Cam Heyward does the same for the defense. No special teams’ captain was named yet.

In his first comments since re-joining the team, Le’Veon Bell pretty much said all the the right things. After saying and rapping some things that left many wondering, he’s off to a good start. Let’s hope that continues.

Have a great day Steeler Nation!
