SCB Steelers’ Quick Hitters: The “Talking Up the Packers” Edition

Good Day Steelers’ Fans!

Steelers’ Head Coach Mike Tomlin returns to the podium today at his usual 12pm Eastern time for the first time in awhile and while we expect some comments regarding the win over Tennessee, most of Tomlin’s comments will be regarding the Green Bay Packers who come to Pittsburgh on Sunday. Like most coaches, Tomlin will paint a picture of how great the Packers are and will have us believing that they are a game away from being Super Bowl bound despite their 23-0 home loss to Baltimore. Green Bay still has talent but they are as banged up as any team and Brett Hundley has been less than impressive at quarterback. It’s no shock therefore to know the Steelers opened today as 14 point favorites.

Tomlin will also address Marcus Gilbert’s suspension and his mantra will remain the same; the standard is the standard. While that irks some people, it has worked for Tomlin and the Steelers. My thoughts on the Gilbert suspension from last night.

I don’t care how many injuries the Packers have and how crappy the quarterback is. These games ALWAYS scare the crap out of me especially with the Bengals, Ravens and Patriots on the horizon.

Tweet of the Day… Cool Fan Pic here.

It puts things in a really different perspective for me in a couple of ways when I see that Ben Roethlisberger passed Warren Moon for eighth on the NFL’s All-Time passing list. First, it speaks volumes of Big Ben’s longevity and tremendous career. But it also says a lot about Moon who it seems every time I saw him play was throwing for over 300 yards a game. People often forget he started his professional career in Canada.

As much as it pains me we have to pay attention to the Baltimore Ravens. At 5-5, they would actually be in the playoffs right now if they started this weekend. That means that when they visit Heinz Field in a few weeks they will be in “win now” mode in order to keep their postseason chances alive.

If the Todd Haley and the Steelers’ Offense don’t use no-huddle in games from here on out then Haley will officially need his head examined.

Ben Anderson will take the “Quick Hitters” control tomorrow. Talk to you on Thanksgiving!

Have a great day Steeler Nation!
