Welcome to Wednesday Steelers’ Fans! Let’s get right to the latest.
Mike Tomlin’s press conference yesterday sounded more like a doctor reading off a list of the wounded from a major battle. The Steelers had been relatively healthy prior to the Eagles’ game but that can’t be said any longer. Let’s start with the good news first. Cody Wallace and Roosevelt Nix look very good for Sunday but that doesn’t mean anything until they practice this week.
Robert Golden had an MRI on his hamstring today. I doubt he plays Sunday. Eli Rogers was in a boot today but is considered questionable. Also in that group are Ryan Shazier (knee), Lawrence Timmons (shin) and Ramon Foster (chest). Don’t be surprised if there are additions as the week goes on.
I’ve seen some speculation that Justin Gilbert, who hasn’t played on defense yet, could see time at safety should Golden not be able to go. I’m not saying that it won’t happen but I will be stunned if it does. Remember, this is Justin Gilbert we are talking about here. He likes to tackle about as much as Deion Sanders did back in his day and if you’re too young to get the reference…. That means he rarely hits anyone.
I think Chris is on to something with his piece on Ben Roethlisberger needing a second option he can trust. Le’Veon Bell will help that a bit but there just isn’t a tight end or second receiver who has stepped up consistently yet.
Tweet of the Day… Swann on ‘The King’
PA will not forget the ride Arnold Palmer gave us. He put Latrobe on his back and took them around the world. He gave us more asked little.

I can’t get over how badly the Steelers Offensive line was dominated on Sunday. It wasn’t just one guy either. It was a complete domination across the board. If you have the opportunity, go back and watch all of the dropbacks by Ben Roethlisberger. His own linemen are in his lap before you can say “boo.” That has to improve and was not something many expected to see this year.
Ryan Shazier went off on five different occasions Sunday and from what I’ve been told there are members of the team that think he needs to recognize the difference between being “hurt” and being “injured.” If you aren’t familiar with football lingo, that’s a pretty common way of telling how tough a guy is. Shazier is an extraordinary talent but he has to stay on the field.
Have a great day Steeler Nation!
