SCB Steelers Quick Hitters for May 22nd, 2015

by Steeldad

There are 110 days until the Steelers play in New England on September 10th in the season opener.

Chances are, you saw that espn and uni-watch.com have declared the Steelers’ uniform to be the best in the NFL. First of all, uni-watch.com is a great site for any sports’ enthusiast. Secondly, the author reminds Steelers’ fans that the switch from block numerals to italic numerals was almost 20 years ago yet we still complain. Count me as a complainer. I’d take the block numbers back in a heartbeat.

In case you missed this awesome moment from the Pirates game Wednesday night…

Pretty sure that’s Franco Harris, Ryan Shazier and Cam Heyward in attendance.

Speaking of Heyward, there’s been a lot of talk recently about his future. Let me say this; his next contract is only a matter of time. He is everything a Steeler is meant to be and there’s no way the franchise lets him go anywhere.

I’m still trying to get an answer to a question I posed on Twitter to NFL rules expert Mike Pereria. I want to know if a team could line up for the two-point conversion yet try a drop-kick for a single point. It’s a lost art, but some guys are very, very good at it. Usually a drop-kick can be performed at any time on the field and would be three points if made. Following a touchdown, I assume it would count as a single point. What can I say? I’m curious.

With all the David Letterman talk I figured you’d enjoy seeing our quarterback getting shaved on that program.

Did you know that both Terence Garvin and William Gay were both born on New Year’s Day? Garvin in 1991 and Gay in 1985.

Looking at the Steelers 2015 schedule, the list of QBs they’ll face is pretty incredible. This assumes of course Tom Brady has his suspension overturned which wouldn’t shock me one bit…  (Brady, Kaepernick, Foles, Flacco, Rivers, Palmer, Wilson, Luck and P. Manning)

Go Steelers!
