SCB Steelers Quick Hitters for June 1st 2015

by Steeldad

100 days from today the Steelers head to New England to open the 2015 NFL season.

If you haven’t noticed, Jarvis Jones looks significantly thicker this season. Despite the wrist not being 100% he has clearly put in time in the offseason. You don’t see it in his arms, but his upper body looks bigger to me.

It’s really easy to hate on Johnny Manziel but if you read the report on what happened to him this weekend you begin to understand what professional athletes often have to endure. I don’t condone Manziel throwing the water bottle at the persistent kid but hey, we all have a fuse that runs out eventually.

Good stuff from Neal Coolong at USA Today on Shamarko Thomas.

Sounds like things went a little smoother this year during the Kenny Chesney concert at Heinz Field…

We would like to thank the City of Pittsburgh Police Department, Mayor Bill Peduto, City Services, local EMS and Fire departments, and every other worker who made the Kenny Chesney concert on Saturday evening run smoothly. We made significant efforts to make last night a fun and enjoyable experience for the record-breaking crowd of all ages. We are pleased that so many Kenny Chesney fans behaved and respected Heinz Field and the parking lots around the North Shore. We have a busy and exciting summer of concerts at Heinz Field, and we will continue to work with the City of Pittsburgh and all of the North Shore partners to showcase our region.

Speaking of that, look who showed up there for our tweet of the day…

The next portion of OTAs begins tomorrow and runs through the 4th. When that breaks the team will return for the remainder of of OTAs June 8th through the 11th. Mandatory mini-Camp rounds out the pre-training camp calendar and that’s held June 16th through the 18th.

Go Steelers!
