SCB Steelers Quick Hitters for 2/12/16

by Steeldad

Is it just me or has this offseason been incredibly slow already?

I think the talk of how the Steelers proceed with Le’Veon Bell in terms of a contract extension will ramp up throughout this offseason. Bell still has another year left but what type of deal is he ultimately worth? It’s incredibly hard to argue with his productivity but then there’s the injury history to consider. Running back value isn’t what it once was in the NFL. Stay tuned on this one.

Despite the overwhelming majority (75%-25%) in our most recent poll saying the Steelers will not make a significant trade this offseason, I just have this feeling they will at the very least try to pull off something. With Ben Roethlisberger’s time shorter and shorter, the Steelers have to be in ‘win-now’ mode and that’s why I think they pull off something.

Congratulations to Steelers’ kicker Shaun Suisham who officially became a US citizen this week. For most of us, we probably take it for granted as to just what it means to be an American. Suisham seems to be a very grateful new American.

Tweet of the Day… DeAngelo Williams strikes a pose.

Three Rivers Stadium was imploded to the ground 15 years ago yesterday. Proud to say I was there for the final game when the Steelers defeated the Redskins 24-3.

Check out some of our earlier work this week. Chris offered this on the Steelers drafting a defensive lineman in the first round while I provided you with some numbers on the Steelers’ 2016 opponents.

One other thing on Suisham, he seems fully invested to return as the Steelers’ kicker in 2016. The order will be tall for him competing against Chris Boswell who performed so well for the Steelers this season. Not only that but Suisham makes considerably more money than does Boswell. One year after having no competition at all in training camp, Mike Tomlin has his hands full this year.

Have a great weekend Steelers Nation!
