Good Thursday Morning Steelers’ Fans!
With the rash of injuries suffered in last week’s loss at Philadelphia, there’s a good chance we are going to see some new faces on the Heinz Field sod this week. The way it looks right now, if rookie Sean Davis can’t go, Jordan Dangerfield would get the start. You’ll note that he is ahead of Shamarko Thomas on the depth chart and while no knock on Dangerfield, it furthers the narrative on just how awful of a draft selection Thomas was. Remember, they made a trade in the draft to move up and get Thomas.
B.J. Finney looks like he’s in line to make his first NFL start at guard in place of Ramon Foster. While Foster hasn’t been ruled out yet, the chest injury he has is thought to be serious enough to keep him out. The next two days will be huge in terms of who plays Sunday night and who doesn’t. Mike Tomlin is typically forgiving when veterans miss a day or two but not so much with younger players.
I gave you my thoughts on what the Steelers’ defense will see when the Chiefs’ offense takes the field. Hint: It’ll be very similar to what the Eagles do.
Our resident “missed tackles” guru Cnic had the Steelers for 19 missed tackles on Sunday with rookie Artie Burns leading the way with five.
Speculation is running high that Justin Gilbert will see his first action as Steeler on defense Sunday night. A word of caution here… We heard the same thing about Brandon Boykin for how many weeks before he played?
Tweet of the Day… DWill getting his Mickey D’s on!
If you want a reason for some of the errant throws by Ben Roethlisberger, then as they say, look at the tape. Like most QBs when he gets his feet set and can step into his throws his accuracy right is much higher. The last two weeks however, he’s had his own lineman being shoved into him at an alarming rate. Watch the tape. You’ll see what I mean.
After a three-drop nightmare on Sunday, expect to see more of Markus Wheaton. Why? Because if Eli Rogers doesn’t practice this week then Wheaton will need to step up and be a reliable player in the slot.
Keith Butler has to have a better week of coaching doesn’t he? I guess you could say that for all of the coaches though.
Have an excellent Thursday Steeler Nation!
