Good morning Steelers’ Fans!
Big news from yesterday was the new contract for linebacker Vince Williams. All we know at the time of this writing is that the deal is for three years. No financial terms have been disclosed. The major question now is about Lawrence Timmons who is in the final year of his contract. While he’s looked good in the preseason, Timmons has regressed in recent years and unless he comes back at a monstrously smaller deal I think he’s done. Williams is an excellent two-down linebacker who tackles as well as any player on the defense.
There have been several strange tweets today suggesting that Keenan Lewis has re-signed with the Steelers. None seem to be from legitimate sources at this time however.
With the deal for Williams done, questions now point to David DeCastro and his contract situation with the Steelers. Remember, the Steelers do not negotiate contracts once the regular season starts so time is running a bit short now. My understanding is that guaranteed money is the big issue between the two sides.
