The Kickoff
When did officials get so whiny?? Down at the Super Bowl in New Orleans the NFLRA was “insulted” by the notion that officials were in any way favoring the Kansas City Chiefs. The first mistake the Association made here was even acknowledging there was an issue. Some things are best left unsaid. Do I think there’s a concerted effort to reward the Chiefs? No, but I do think that some officials will “favor” them simply because of the success and the star power. It’s human nature really… One area they have to do better is with the lack of false start calls on Jawaan Taylor, the Chiefs’ right tackle. This guy gets a head start on literally every snap that’s a pass play. Be that as it may, no, I don’t see a conspiracy here but the NFLRA was better off saying nothing.
18 is Coming
The head of the NFL Players Association said yesterday that “no one” wants an 18-game schedule. Well, no one wanted a 17-game schedule either and here we are.
International…
It is expected, perhaps as early as today, that the NFL will announce that the Steelers are playing in Ireland in 2025. It’s one of those incredibly “worst kept secrets” that the NFL is so good at hiding.
Pickens
There is a rumor – and I stress “rumor” – that George Pickens has made it clear that next season is his final one in Pittsburgh. I’ve been told this by fairly reputable sources but I still take it with a grain of salt. If that’s really the case and he wants to leave then the Steelers absolutely should try and trade him in order to get some value for him.

Episode 407 of the SCB Steelers Podcast presented by DEK Roofing Inc airs tonight at 10pmET. We will finish our roster analysis by looking at the defense and the guys will share their thoughts on the butting of heads between Russell Wilson and Arthur Smith.

Super Bowl Media Day used to be fun and humorous at times and I suppose in some ways it still is but why does every Tom, Dick and Harry get a press pass? Some of the questions these players are asked have nothing to do with the game, their season or the game of football in general… I’m curious, if the President says “I’m going to the Super Bowl” does he have to buy a ticket like the rest of us?… This Super Bowl reminds me a bit of the Ravens-Niners Super Bowl which was also in New Orleans. It isn’t quite that bad, but I can’t stand either of these teams… For those wondering, free agency starts on March 12th. The Steelers have been more active in the early hours of free agency the past two years and I think that will continue… These ‘Manning Kick of Destiny’ commercials are awful.
