Good morning and happy Tuesday SCB Fantasy fans! Week one is officially in the books. Should Ja’Marr Chase owners panic? Is Drake Maye a fraud? We’ll get into all that and more, but first, let’s look at my results for the week.
Team Invictus (yours truly) 142.26 vs Diddy’s Baby Oil Brawlers 101.22
Led by Josh Allen, Christian Watson, and Jonathan Taylor we sailed to victory this week. Not to mention the Steelers Defense coming up big! Props for his team name though. This is with Pickens and Pollard underperforming. I also left Chuba Hubbard and Jalen Coker on the bench who had 23.70 and 33.80 points respectively. Speaking of Jalen Coker, if he happened to go undrafted, you might want to make a move immediately. What was that grade again Yahoo?
Need waiver wire help for week 2? I got you. If you happen to be in a 12 team plus league, there is a good chance that some of these players were already snagged. It doesn’t hurt to check though.
Quarterbacks
First, who saw this kind of offensive performance with Carolina? I definitely didn’t. Bryce Young has struggled a bit in years past, but he might finally be hitting his stride. Another player to consider that I guarantee nobody owns is Carson Wentz. If Kyler Murray misses this week due to his concussion, then Carson Wentz is up against the Bears this week who the aforementioned Bryce Young just put up monster numbers against. Plus, Justin Jefferson.
Running Backs
If Jordan Mason somehow happens to still be available in your league, snatch him up. Aaron Jones Sr. is still respectable, but he has an injury history and Jordan Mason is becoming the go-to anyway. Kaelon Black is another player to look for. Naturally CMC’s backup is nice to have when the inevitable injury hits. But Black actually had more carries than McCaffrey in week 1.
Wide Receivers
As mentioned above, Jalen Coker had a great game, and Bryce Young targeted him 9 times (8 receptions.) Coker should be a priority add. Devaughn Vele came to play in Jordyn Tyson’s absence and played well. Is he a long-term consideration? That depends on Tyson but probably not. Can you use him in the short term if you have some players down? For sure.
Tight Ends
Tight Ends are difficult because mostly they are touchdown dependent. Mike Gesicki had a huge game, but I don’t trust him. I’ve done this in the past with him and been scorned. Ya burnt me bad, Gesicki (that should be on a t-shirt.) Michael Mayer is the only obvious choice here because the Raiders have to gameplan around the tight end. A- because of Brock Bowers and B- because they don’t have anyone else.
Trade targets
Take a shot at getting Ja’Marr Chase from a disgruntled owner. He’s too good to stay bad week after week. James Cook is another possible target for a similar reason. Always try to buy low. That being said, I would avoid Drake Maye. I didn’t like the Patriots going into this season. Vrabel has too much going on and it could get worse before it gets better.
