SCB Fantasy Week 9- The Return

Happy Thursday SCB Fantasy fans! My sincere apologies- we had some issues with the site and some previous content was deleted, some delayed, but we’re back! Here we are heading into week 9, and team Invictus is in 2nd place in our league, with a record of 5-3 (one game was a loss by less than a point- ouch.) I’m pretty heavily favored this week and have done well over the bye weeks so far. I also have almost 100 total points more than the team in first place, so I’m feeling pretty good. My WR corps is a little banged up; George Pickens, Christian Watson, and Emeka Egbuka are all listed as questionable so we will see what Sunday brings.

If all of these receivers can’t play, I’ll obviously be in trouble. On that note, let’s take a look at the waiver wire.

Quarterbacks

There have been several key injuries over the past several weeks. Lamar Jackson had a pretty gruesome thumb injury, so the Ravens traded for Jacoby Brissett. However, the trade will NOT be completed in time for week 9. Drew Lock is starting for the Seahawks in place of Sam Darnold, Shedeur Sanders is filling in for the concussed Watson, and Joe Milton is starting for Philly.  If you’re the gambling type and in a pinch, pick your poison.

Running Backs

Speaking of Shedeur, he might have found the perfect checkdown buddy in Dylan Sampson who has been carving out a little more of a role in the passing game. Blake Corum still might be available in your league. He’s been seeing an increased workload and is one injury away from being the guy. Basul Tuten will be a game-time decision so if Chris Rodriguez Jr. is still unclaimed, you may want to grab him up.

Wide Receivers

Ah a scenario I am currently dealing with myself. Because of the Pickens injury, I went ahead and picked up Ryan Flournoy. He had a touchdown against the Cardinals and overall ran a lot of routes, though he only had 3 catches. However if Pickens is out his workload will obviously increase. If you are playing the long game in a thin league, Tyreek Hill and Brandon Aiyuk rumors are floating around if you have the ability to stash a player and feel good about either of these two.

Tight Ends

Now here’s a guy….. no, seriously here’s a guy that has screwed me over in the past and I hate to even throw his name out there. However ol Mike Gesicki has caught touchdowns in 5 straight games. Apparently Burrow looks his way in the endzone, but it makes me Gesick to even talk about him.

Trade targets

At this point in the season value may be harder to find. So your best bet is to look at your lineup, decide where you’re the strongest and can lose some value, and go get a position of need.

The Steelers are off this week, which sucks. So instead of cheering for them, we get to cheer for whoever is playing the Browns/Bengals/Ravens. Right Lamar? Can I get a thumbs up? Have a great week everybody!
