McFadden’s Tweet Sent Steeler Nation Into a Frenzy

For starters, I still call them “tweets” even though it isn’t called ‘Twitter’ any longer. Whether that’s right or wrong I don’t know but I’m old and don’t like change so get off my lawn while we’re at it…

Anyway, former Pittsburgh Steelers’ Defensive Back Bryant McFadden put out the following on ‘X’ or Twitter or whatever…

The speculation immediately started and included literally every wide receiver not currently on the Pittsburgh Steelers’ roster. There were of course the usual names like Brandon Aiyuk and his teammate Deebo Samuel but there were also mentions of D.K. Metcalf and D.J. Chark as well.

Obviously, McFadden is closer to the situation than I am being that he’s a former player and Super Bowl Champion but from everything I can gather there’s nothing but chatter at the moment. The good news is that ‘chatter’ is where deals start. The further good news is that Steelers’ General Manager Omar Khan recognizes that he needs to add a definitive number two receiver opposite George Pickens. McFadden’s tweet seems to confirm this.

There would have to be something significant in return for Khan to do this though and the Steelers – short of Kevin Colbert’s move for Minkah Fitzpatrick – aren’t crazy about giving up high draft picks. But could a player be involved here? The Steelers are suddenly filled with depth along their offensive line so perhaps Dan Moore, Jr is available?

If we’ve learned anything about Khan in the past two seasons it’s that he’s willing to do whatever it takes to make the team better. Therefore I’m not going to be overly surprised by anything that he may pull off in the coming hours, days or weeks. I’m extremely hopeful that McFadden’s tweet has serious merit to it and I have no reason to doubt him one bit.

I hope something big happens in this case and I’m sure you’ll see it on ‘X’ or whatever the Hell it’s called long before I can announce it.
