Hey Steelers Fans. Welcome to Friday.

The Kickoff

Need an example of what happens during the month of July when Steelers’ content is slow? Last night on the podcast we got into a discussion over fast food burgers. One of the reasons we love our viewers who get into our chat is that they always provide content. Little did “Christine” know that when she brought up The Whopper, it would lead to a full segment on the show. This is exactly why we call this part of the NFL “the dead period.” Training Camp can’t come soon enough.

Speaking of the Podcast

Episode 482 is available for your pleasure! Ben and Scarps were both unavailable so Ian and I led the way. We literally assumed we’d go for maybe 45 minutes and instead we put together an almost 90 minute show that was terrific. Check it out right here!

Training Camp Prep

I’ve written just about everything I can in preparation of the Steelers opening Camp at St. Vincent College. Of course there’s always more and I’m sure there will be. For now though, you can check out the position previews and other articles right here

Happy Birthday!

John Stallworth, the Hall of Famer and four-time Super Bowl Champion turned 74 earlier this week. As I usually do when members of those 1970’s teams hit a milestone, I take time to reflect. In the case of Stallworth, the images of him making catches in those Super Bowl wins is seared into my brain. I can literally see every moment of his game-clinching TD catch in Super Bowl XIV. The extended arms, the ball hitting his hands, the long strides into the end zone and the casual way he drops the ball as he crosses the goal line… It’s like it happened yesterday. Hope he has many more birthdays ahead!

Dee-Fense!

Mike DeFabo of The Athletic had a nice article on how Patrick Graham does things as a defensive coordinator. He discusses how Graham uses deception, pressure and creativity to get the most out of his unit. I would suggest however that we steer clear of comparing any Steelers’ defense to the “Steel Curtain.” There’s only one of those and there always will be just one “Steel Curtain.”

The World Cup has been interesting but I’m glad it concludes Sunday. I’ll leave it at that… The MLB All-Star Game was played this week. Do kids still look forward to this the way we did in the 70’s and 80’s? It was must-see TV for us back then… The Open is underway in the UK. I always enjoy watching it. Links golf is something we don’t see a lot of in the US… I think LeBron James has a little bit of Aaron Rodgers in him. He claims he doesn’t like the attention but he likes the attention. He knows where he is going to play but is choosing to string everyone along… This wildfire smoke is no joke. What an awful look and smell… Enjoy the weekend everyone! Less than two weeks to go!
