What You Need to Know: The Steelers are 6-3 this season when they score 20 points or more… Pittsburgh is 5-0 when they win the turnover battle… The Steelers have blown four halftime leads this year. The team record is five… Pittsburgh is 36-27 all-time versus the Ravens and they’re 15-14 all-time in Baltimore… Since 1996, the Steelers and Ravens have played in 39 one-score games. That’s the most of any series in that time span… The Steelers have not captured the AFC North since 2020.

Tomlin Time: Coach Tomlin is 20-16 all-time against the Ravens in the regular season… This will be the 39th meeting between Tomlin and John Harbaugh which is second to Curly Lambeau and George Halas who squared off 49 times… For the third straight week Tomlin looks for win number 190 which would tie him for tenth all-time with Dan Reeves.

Baltimore Ravens Names to Know:  QB Lamar Jackson, RB Derrick Henry, WR Zay Flowers, TE Mark Andrews, S Kyle Hamilton, CB Nate Wiggins, CB Marlon Humphrey, K Tyler Loop, RB Keaton Mitchell

What’s at Stake: Where do I start? The loser of this game falls a game behind the other and also owns a loss against them with four weeks to go. The season finale in Pittsburgh looks like a must-win situation for both teams and losing here will have significant pressure on them.

Three Things We Need to See for a Steelers’ Victory:

Get Off the Damn Field! The Steelers Defense has been on the field more than any other defense in the NFL in 2025. There was a time when a Steelers’ defense defacing a third and long would mean that the punt return team was ready to come on the field. Those days are long gone. Third and long situations now find fans (and the team) gasping for air or in some cases, not able to watch the play. It’s gotten that bad. 12 games into the season, you’d think Teryl Austin would be better equipped to handle these situations. I don’t put it all on him though. Players just aren’t executing.

Better Shots at Better Times. Going back to the Ben Roethlisberger era, the Steelers’ offense has often used third and short situations to take deep shots. These are usually ‘go balls’ down the sideline where its going to be caught by the receiver or fall incomplete. Aaron Rodgers has attempted this tactic as well with similarly poor results. Rodgers and Arthur Smith need to take shots at different times. Why not on first and ten? Why not on second and short? What I’m getting at here is that constantly taking shots on third down has become predictable and easy to defend.

Time to Sack Up! Sunday’s loss to the Bills exposed one really glaring fact about this Steelers’ team. They lack physical and mental toughness. T.J. Watt said as much in his postgame comments. James Harrison also boiled it down this week on his podcast when he stated that games come down to who blocks better and who tackles better. At the end of the day, what that really means is this; you have to beat the man across from you more often than he beats you. The Steelers aren’t doing that. Time to put up or shut up this week.

The ‘X’ Factor: Each week I will select a player from each team who I believe will need to play above and beyond in order for his team to win.

X-Factor Steelers: Cam Heyward. Few Steelers had as poor of a week as did the long-time captain. He was flagged for taunting Josh Allen on a play in which the Bills scored a touchdown. He then complained about being hit intentionally in the gut by Allen in his postgame comments. It was a bad look off of a bad performance. The way I see it, Heyward has two games left in his career against the hated Ravens. If he wants to try and get to the postseason then he needs to start coming up big in crucial situations and it has to start this weekend.

X-Factor Ravens: Offensive Line. This unit for the Ravens is as weak as it has been in a long time. The good news for them is that they aren’t playing the 2008 Steelers. They have two jobs on Sunday. Protect a less than 100% Lamar Jackson and create running room for Derrick Henry and company. With no Derrick Harmon and serious doubts following their brutal performance against Buffalo, the Steelers’ front seven could be ripe to get run over again. If the Ravens are going to win Sunday their OL has to play well.

Prediction: I picked the Bills to win last week but as the week wore on it felt more and more like a game the Steelers would find a way to win. For one half anyway, I looked to be correct. This week I’m even less confident but it’s been a tumultuous week for the Steelers. Maybe I’m being overly optimistic I think they’ll respond with a strong effort and find a way to leave Baltimore with a win.

Steelers 20 Ravens 17

Season Prediction Record: 6-6
