As we enter the final third of the WPIAL season, playoff races are in full swing and each week will present opportunities for teams to lock up their respective spots. On this week’s edition of the WPIAL Blitz Show we ran through the current conference standings and playoff scenarios. You can also check out our WPIAL Standings Page for the latest (and correct) standings based on all of the tiebreakers. So far, Central Catholic and Gateway have clinched conference titles. Additionally, North Allegheny, McGuffey and Clairton have secured playoff spots. Here’s a look at all of the teams that have opportunities to clinch playoff spots this weekend.
6A Playoff Scenarios
- Central Catholic has clinched the conference title
- North Allegheny has clinched a playoff spot
There are no conference games this week, so no additional spots can be clinched. Seneca Valley will be eliminated if they lose to either Central Catholic or North Allegheny.
5A Playoff Scenarios
Allegheny Six Conference
- Peters Twp plays a non-conference game but clinches a playoff spot if Moon loses to Bethel Park
- Bethel Park clinches a playoff spot with a win over Moon AND a South Fayette loss to Baldwin
Big East Conference
- Gateway has clinched the conference title
- If Penn-Trafford and Franklin Regional both win, they will both secure finishes in the Top 3 of the conference and would be eligible for the Wild Card.
Northeast Conference
No clinching scenarios this week

Big Seven Conference
- McKeesport plays a non-conference game but clinches a playoff spot if either Trinity or Connellsville lose
- Latrobe clinches a playoff spot with a win over Connellsville
- Trinity clinches a playoff spot with a win over Laurel Highlands AND losses by both Connellsville and Ringgold
Greater Allegheny Conference
- Mars clinches a playoff spot with a win over Armstrong AND a Highlands loss
- North Catholic plays a non-conference game but clinches a playoff spot if Kiski beats Highlands
If Highlands and Hampton both win, a 5-way tie scenario is still in play
Parkway Conference
- Aliquippa clinches a playoff spot with a win over New Castle
- Montour clinches a playoff spot with a win over Chartiers Valley AND an Ambridge loss
- West Allegheny clinches a playoff spot with a win over Blackhawk AND an Ambridge loss
- Central Valley clinches a playoff spot with a win over Ambridge

Allegheny Six Conference
- Knoch clinches a playoff spot with a win over Freeport AND a Valley loss
- East Allegheny clinches a playoff spot with a win over Deer Lakes AND losses by both Freeport and Valley
Interstate Conference
- Elizabeth Forward clinches a playoff spot with a win over South Allegheny AND a Greensburg Salem loss
- Belle Vernon clinches a playoff spot with a win over Mt Pleasant AND losses by both Greensburg Salem and South Allegheny
Western Hills Conference
- Avonworth plays a non-conference game but can clinch a playoff spot if West Mifflin beats Quaker Valley

- Steel Valley clinches a playoff spot with a win over Burrell
Century Conference
- McGuffey has clinched a playoff spot
- Washington clinches a playoff spot with a win over Charleroi
