SCB Steelers’ Quick Hitters: “The World is Ending” Edition

by Steeldad

Happy Hump Day Steelers’ Fans! Hope you get on the downside of the week quickly today!

Steelers’ Head Coach Mike Tomlin made it official yesterday. Ben Roethlisberger is OUT Sunday and he’ll be joined on the sidelines by Cam Heyward who is still nursing a sore hamstring and Cody Wallace who continues to take up a roster spot for reasons beyond me. Those whose practice will determine their availability for Sunday are Markus Wheaton (shoulder), Shamarko Thomas (groin), Mike Mitchell (knee), Ryan Shazier (knee), DeAngelo Williams (knee) and Marcus Gilbert (ankle).

Ya know? Regardless of what happens Sunday, there are still nine weeks left in the NFL season. I think we all need to relax and realize there is a LONG way to go before we should start thinking the Steelers’ season is over. In other words, the world isn’t ending on Sunday people.

Why I Don’t Hate Landry Jones. A must-read that many will agree with… and some won’t.

There are reports that Maurkice Pouncey, along with his brother Mike, held a dinner party the night before the game in Miami. Similar sources also reported that Antonio Brown did the same. I don’t believe these contributed to the poor performance on Sunday but trust me, some will run with this story.

According to several sources, Vontaze Burfict will not be suspended despite two glaring incidents on Sunday where he purposely tried to injure other players. His actions have no place in the game. I believe Roger Goodell opens himself up to potential lawsuits if this guy does intentionally cost another player their career.

Tweet of the Day… Umm, Charlie? Would you like to play QB this week?

‘Nail the Number’ Week Seven is Out! Please tweet your entries to @Nailthenumber1.

The Steelers are currently -2 in Takeaway/Giveaway. That has to change if this team is going to go anywhere.

Also mentioned by Mike Tomlin yesterday was the status of Ladarius Green. The best way to explain his comments would be ‘non-commital.’ If Green doesn’t show up by week nine then something is much more wrong with him than any of us know.

The Patriots are giving up less than 16 points per game. Only the Minnesota Vikings are allowing fewer points. As much as it may not make sense, the Steelers have to take some chances Sunday.

Have a great day Steeler Nation!
